A lot of guys come to mind..

Magic
Larry Bird
Kobe
Jordan
Oscar

Would probably go with Jordan first, followed by Bird/Kobe, Oscar, Magic

Hakeem could make a 3 when left open too

Not consistently but he definitely could

Jordan

He had all the skills at one point in his career. So did Kobe.

Jordan was just better.

Kobe has
Elite shooting game from every where
Great post game
Elite ability to drive especially in his younger days
A wide array of moves, guy is practically a mime
Excellent footwork
Good vision and passing ability
Great handles
Play making ability
Elite man 2 man defense
elite help defense

Does effectiveness matter when talking about being the most complete player? Taking bias out of the equation, I think your list boils down to:

Elite at taking tough shots
Elite post game/footwork for a guard
Able to make shots from anywhere on the court
Well-rounded/decent/average everywhere else (in prime)
Below average b-ball IQ

Magic Johnson is the only player ever that could legitimately play all 5 positions period.

But it doesn't really end there...magic was also the best PG ever...and there is no debate.

If magic played C...like he did in the NBA finals he likely would have been a top 5 C of all time. If he played SF, the same, PF the same, SG likely the same.

How can you be more complete than being truly able to play all 5 positions?

Magic gets my vote for goat and most complete. Bird likely 2nd. MJ 3rd.

as for defense...magic ran the offense and the break so well that he didn't need to be that great at defense. MJ, Kobe, and Bird were great but needed to make stops...Magic just ran it down your throat after rebounding the ball.

Elite at taking tough shots <--- this counts towards being a complete player
Elite post game/footwork for a guard <--- guards have better footwork than big men. They just never get a chance to use it. It's generally known that the most skilled players are at PG and SG.
Below average b-ball IQ <--- Wasn't Kobe voted as having the highest Bball IQ by the coaches? Anyways, you can't have below IQ and win 5 championships.

Magic Johnson is my pick.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

those awards along with his size (7'0 +) and athleticism, and averages of about 20, 10 and 5 throughout his career...hes easily got to be a candidate for the MOST COMPLETE PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY.

He worked very hard on his 3s after going to the Suns. And Channing Frye is a career 40% 3pt shooter so thats a pretty terrible comparison.

Magic didn't shoot 3s because he couldnt. He only had one good shooting year with a relatively decent attempts(3.3 3pa). At the end of the day he was a 30% 3pt shooter. You can't win this argument no matter how you twist it.

You're making no sense so I don't know why I'm bothering when clearly you're just posting for the sake of posting

Channing Frye didn't shoot threes early on because the offense did not allow him to. You don't just go from 0.1 3pa/gm to 5 3pa/gm if you couldn't shoot. Are you telling me if Shaq worked on his 3 point shooting, he could just, out of the blue pull a 38+ % year from the arc?

Magic had one year where he made threes because he took them. You can't shoot 55%+ from the field in multiple years as a GUARD and 85% from the line for your career and one year at 91% if you didn't have a shooting touch. But yeah, let's just point to career averages for everything because that's all that matters right? Context never matters. With your logic, players before the 90s were horrendous shooters because they didn't center their game around the 3 point shot.

He shot 50% from the field through layups and hookshots in the paint. He had a monstrous size advantage against all of his matchups. I can't believe i had to explain that to you. Thats like saying shaq had a great shooting game because of his skyhigh FG%.

I dont deny that Magic was a very good FT shooter. But a 15 foot open set shot is not the same as a 23 foot jumpshot. FT% is mostly repetition. There are plenty of NBA players who have had incredibly good FT% but no 3pt range. Yao Ming is another example.

Again if he is a good 3pt shooter as you argued, please explain his career 30% 3pt percentage. He only had one good shooting year out of 13. And during that year he only took 3 attempts a game from that range.
I feel like you're just arguing for argument's sake.

Who ISNT a good 3 pt shooter in your opinion? Ben Wallace?

No mention of Scottie Pippen?

Could score, rebound, pass, defend positions 1-4, handle the ball. What was his weakness?

I was very young in the late 80's/ 90's so I'm going with the eye test.

1.Magic.... because I remember he was able to play multiple positions. After all he was 6'9"????
2. MJ...he ruled the NBA most of the 90's.
3. Kobe...an offensive juggernaut and tenacious on defense.
4. Larry Bird...his game had no weaknesses.
or LB 3 and KB 4.
