Kenny Smith w/ constructive criticism of Lebron/LBJ responds

Post#1 » by NYCrusader » Fri Jan 13, 2012 7:20 am

On TNT, basically said if he wants to be the great player he is when he has a bad night to close out a game he has to have a short memory and not let him effect him in the next game and points to MJ and currently Kobe...

Brought up the MJ commercial in which Jordan rightfully stated that you miss more game winners then you make...

Lebron reaction.....

KingJames LeBron James
Inside the NBA on TNT was on point tonight. Ernie, Charles, Diesel and Kenny. Jet I hear u!!

I totally agreed with them, and I loved how they broke down Kobe's late game performance too and pointed out that it wasn't any better than LeBron's, and might have been worse.

Very fair and accurate analysis imo.

 JET should be the last person out there giving advice to a player that is 1 thousand times the player he was in his prime.

Good that he can take criticism. At least that's what I think he meant, I hope he wasn't saying he was putting Kenny on "the list."

This is (Please Use More Appropriate Word), just because he wasn't as good as Lebron doesn't mean he can't give him advice...

Going by that logic Michael Jordan would be the best coach on the planet, but in fact he would probably be a terrible one...

It was a good breakdown by Kenny, while Charles and Shaq tend to paint with too broad of brushes.

Unfortunately, sportscenter highlights of one guy missing or making a shot late is what tends to drive the larger narrative about who is clutch and such things.

Forgot to mention that he said Kobe could miss X amount of game winners in a row and Kobe would take his next shot with just as much confidence, because Kobe doesn't care what people think about him...

Can someone post a vid of this, or upload it if possible?

I always felt like Kenny was smarter than the rest of the panel anyway

Missing game winners isn't bad for your reputation anyway, as long as you make every 1 out of 3 or something, the makes are what people will remember far more. As proven by Kobe's whole career.

who watches that show for basketball analysis, I watch it for the comedy. They were in great form tonight. Shaq makes a great addition.

What has Kenny Smith done in this league besides competing in the 3 point shootout/dunk contest and climbing on Hakeem's back for 2 rings? Sure, he had ONE good game (the magic game where he was on fire from 3). Outside of that, Smith is known more for his comedy than his basketball ability. Older fans shall disagree, but the guy is a better comedic than a basketball player.

Giving a guy (who has done more than Smith could ever dream of apart from winning 2 championships) advice (or constructive criticism) to a player that has accomplished more is what you call "(Please Use More Appropriate Word)". 8-)

So does every other athlete. It's natural to care what your critics say, you just don't let it hinder your play.

Oh I'm sorry, no other basketball analyst should be doing his job, then.

Intelligent people realize you can learn something from anybody...

Kenny at the very least played in the NBA, NBA players are coached on a daily basis by people who didn't even play in the NBA and they listen to them...

Kenny Smith is actually one of the smarter analysts. Saying that you can't analyze a guy's game b/c you didn't have the career they had is ridiculous.

No need to apologize ;)

Since when did that TNT team truly give out advice? The entire broadcast should be switched to a comedy channel. 90% comedy, 10% serious talk.

Not in a negative way, it motivates him just like it motivated Jordan...
