Incompetent Blazers medical staff ruining careers

I'm speechless.
The type of testing this guy does is what the Phoenix Suns use. Guess what the Phoenix Suns have Grant Hill and Steve Nash still going strong. And they've been in the league since the mid 90s? If I was a young star I'd be praying that I don't get drafted by Portland and if I did I'd be praying even harder that I stay injury free. (The comments also have some good things)
By the way, forgive me if this is has already been posted.

Re: Incompetent Blazers medical staff ruining careers
So the Portland curse isn't so much of a curse, but rather a medical staff wide neglect to greater knowledge. If Greg Oden and Brandon Roy were in Phoenix I wonder how their careers would have turned out?
What are the logistics to acquiring a great medical staff? I doubt it's money, because Phoenix's owner is one of the cheapest in the league while Paul Allen is richer than most owners combined. The Portland medical staff potentially made us lose out on a great duo.

That's pretty crazy actually.
How is that medical staff still employed by Portland? 2 very good players whose careers are done because of preventable knee injuries. Imagine a healthy Roy and Oden on the Blazers their whole career? They'd have won a championship at this point.
I think this goes to show how underrated a good medical staff can be. Phoenix's medical staff is off-the-charts good.

They're still there because no one wants to hear that the Blazers medical staff are a joke. Even before this many had their doubts about them and Greg Oden mentioned being rushed back from injury in his interview with Grantland.

Re: Incompetent Blazers medical staff ruining careers
The fact that the medical staff is still there means the organization is even more incompetent than the staff. They treat these players as playthings and I don't even know wat their job is if they laugh off all the risks their players can suffer (which did happen) and not even trying for a solution for these problems. This is just sad on so many levels, Blazer fans should protest their own organization until they fire the medical staff. No players should want to play for the Blazers if they read this it would just be their doom.

First of all that was a great read. Thank you very much OP.
The reason why I bolded the last part therealbig3 was because I actually think this goes to show how much of an impact an incompetent medical staff can be.
A lot of people single out Phoenix, and yes they seem to be league leaders in getting players back on the court, or on the court for longer into their careers, but there aren't too many ball clubs that have had a history anywhere near like Portland's.
At this stage it would look like the entire league has decent to good medical staff while the Blazers simply have staff that operate like doctors you or me would go to and do not have to compete as an elite athlete.

Although the whole situation is sad, what was more sad was when they let go the only guy that cared about doing something to help the health of his team.

Couldn't agree more. Surely those injuries should be the last straw?
Could this be part of the reason why they go through so many people in management? Owner standing up for the medical staff? Is there any connection with the medical staff and Paul Allen?

Is this grounds for a lawsuit by a player?

Wow. Incredible read. But I think it might be somewhat exaggerated. I think Roy would of had multiple opinions on his knee situation and confirmed that it's over.
Either way, I hope Oden gets looked after by a private doctor before even thinking about talking with any team. (Bar Phoenix).

Deng had a fractured leg & the medical staff couldnt find it. They openly accused Deng of avoiding playing. Deng went to his own doctor who provided evidence that Deng did indeed have a broken leg & it is not advisable to force him to play with it.

Wow you guys are late, GB had a thread about this a week after it came out. It has been mostly debunked by the Blazers, Tom Penn (who has no reason at all to defend the Blazers), and Blazer fans (and we have no love at all for our medical staff). This is mostly a guy exaggerating or outright lying to try to make a name for himself (please note it came shortly after Greg was waived, and not any time before).

It really should be. I think Bill Walton sued the Blazers and Grant Hill sued the Pistons for their misconduct. Might be wrong though.

This is not true. Also, Grant Hill ultimately is the one who decided to play on his ankle because he didn't want the fans to think he was soft.

That Autor has been sued and to jail several times for fraud. He's trying to make money, not present facts. Even staff that the blazers have fired has said that none of its true and Greg himself denied the accuracy of the reports.

Re: Incompetent Blazers medical staff ruining careers
this is a giant load of crap
anybody armed with some logic and a familiarity with the Blazer injury situation would recognize the embellishment and the self-serving motivations of the author...
and speaking of that author:
you should look up Zig Ziegler on the web. If you did you'd find out about his legal troubles. In January, he was arrested in Arizona:
http://www.jailbase.com/en/arrested/az-mcso/2012-01-11/larry-wayne-ziegler-p834055
but that's not all. In 2010, he was hit with securities charges in Arkansas:
http://www.securities.arkansas.gov/!userfiles/60CV-10-933.pdf
and for good measure, also in 2010, the State of Arizona ordered him to pay $650K in restitution and administrative penalties for securities fraud:
http://www.azinvestor.gov/News/2010/apr13-10.pdf
this does not appear to be a guy to take at his word, and as I said, it extremely easy to poke holes in the article if you know just a little bit about the actual history
but by all means, everybody just keep swallowing the guy's BS and condemning the Blazers.
