5 or 8 might not be impact enough for the Rockets. They need a real franchise face with the 2 or 3 pick in beal or mkg.

Pining their hopes on Drummond? Very risky

Rockets need this... they need to get away from their status of mediocrity. If Lowry wants out, then they might as well attain a higher pick and continue their search for a franchise player.

Kyle Lowry ‏@Klow7

It's been real

Lowry gone? I would guess for Portland's (Nets) pick

Edit:

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA

Has Kyle Lowry been traded? He sent out this cryptic tweet... RT @Klow7 It's been real

22m Bill Ingram Bill Ingram ‏@TheRocketGuy

@AlexKennedyNBA @Klow7 I was told by a well-placed Houston source that he was "likely" to be traded on or before draft day . .

Boston, Houston, Sacramento three way deal.

Boston trades: Rondo and 22
Boston receives: Lowry, Reke, 16

Houston trades: Lowry, 14 and 16
Houston receives: 5, 22

Sacramento trades: Reke and 5
Sacramento receives: Rondo and 14

Not sure if that looks fair to everyone. Rondo probably has the most value and he nets two inferior but talented young players in Lowry/Evans and an extra boost from 22 to move to 16. I'm a Boston fan and not sure I'd love this deal.

Houston gets their pick at 5 and move back to 22 for dealing Lowry when Dragic can step up and be the man at PG long term.

Sacramento gets a starting PG to orchestrate for Evans and moving down 9 spots in a pretty well stocked draft.

The article lists SAC/TOR as the teams that were interested in trading their pick for Lowry. Why would POR be involved?

Lowry only makes sense for the Raptors & Blazers. The Kings don't need a PG.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

Lowry had one good year and he is worth a lottery pick?

No way, Portland would do better taking Lillard

Yes they do. Their only real PG is last-year's 60th pick Isaiah Thomas. Lowry would easily be an upgrade over him and would give Thomas more room to make mistakes and develop coming off of the bench. Evans is not a PG. Fredette is not a PG. The Kings board has been enthusiastic about the prospect of acquiring Lowry or Rondo or a PG of that caliber all season.

Rondo's great and all, but Isaiah is good enough, and I think the Kings have a bigger need at SF, so I think Evans and the 5th should be used to address that instead.

if they were able to get drummond and if he and domo reached pretty high into their potential ceilings they would literally be the perfect compliment to each other and form a terrific twin tower pairing....big if's but would be exciting to see how they develop over the next few years.

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... p-in-draft

UPDATE (12:48 a.m. ET): Upon hearing of Sunday night's developments, one rival general manager told ESPN.com that he believes Houston's real aim is acquiring two top-10 picks this week to turn around quickly and offer both to the Orlando Magic as part of a considerable trade offer for Dwight Howard.

The Rockets' willingness to trade for Howard -- even without the All-Star center's signature on a contract extension -- is an open secret around the league. But it's believed that two top-eight picks, assuming Houston managed to complete trades with both Sacramento and Toronto, would seriously pique the interest of new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, who could then quickly start following the same sort of roster-building blueprint relied on by his previous employers in Oklahoma City.

Acquiring those early lottery picks, though, only represents half of Houston's challenge if Howard is indeed the Rockets' target. The other hurdle is convincing Hennigan, who hasn't even been on the job for a week in Central Florida, to part with Howard so quickly. As much as he's been schooled in building through the draft while working alongside Thunder GM Sam Presti, Hennigan could opt to take a more measured approach, make one more run at trying to convince Howard to sign an extension before entering the final year of his contract and then trade him later in the summer if those efforts go nowhere.

my understanding was they needed ti trade boy picks with Lowry to get the 5? How do they get both now, money always wants to get the superstar but they hate Houston
