Shved can play the SG spot, though. Just like Kobe, Wade, and Ginobili can (and occasionally do) play PG. That doesn't change the fact that they're SGs.

Not that this is relevant to the point that Else-where was trying to make since not only is Shved not a backup pg for Minnesota, I can't think of any times that he's played PG at all this year (which makes sense since we're so deep at PG and so thin on the wings), and he's not even backing up the SG spot anymore.

Big fan of this guy.

A great 4th or 5th option with versatility.

Love, if you leave Minny, you're a silly man.

Despite his detractors, of which i've been one, Kahn has put together a nice team.

Imagine if Batum was let go by Portland.

This team would be damn nasty.

I don't think anyone out of Ridnour, Barea and Shved can be called the "true" PG when they're on the floor two at a time. What defines the position, anyway? They obviously share ball-handling duties and the kind of offense the Timberwolves employ with these lineups doesn't necessarily call for a single player to create for others, it's more of a team effort. I guess the only argument could be about who they're guarding defensively, but that doesn't matter at the other end. It's a different story when Rubio's in there, of course.

Eh, I'm not too sure that I can call Shved a SG. He certainly is a SG next to Rubio. But if he played in a team that lacks a true PG (the Lakers for example with Nash being out) he would certainly be a PG for them.

In general, Shved can play both guard positions almost equally well. He did play PG when he was in Europe and he was often compared to Diamantidis due to his height and length. With the Wolves he plays SG more often than not.

I wouldn't call him a SG or a PG, personally. He's a prototypical combo guard.

The need to classify players into a position is becoming more and more redundant in the modern NBA.

What is not, is this kid's skills.

Good find, Minny.

The scary thing about Alexy is that I think he may be into voodoo. Every single player that gets in his way on the depth chart goes down with injury. If I was Ridnour I'd be barricading my door and painting protective wards on my floor.

In this case, I completely agree :)

I miss Kahn-isms. For all his faults, of which are many, that unique mixture of kahn-descension and cluelessness provided endless entertainment.

Shved has been big for the Wolves all season, even when his shots haven't been falling.
It's not fair to compare Rubio to him right now. It's obvious Rubio's not moving nearly as well as he was before the injury (hopefully he'll eventually make a full recovery).

Would of been the last piece of the puzzle, or he would have done his knee by now :(

The best signing of the offseason with his contract and he is only 24 years old. He is just an amazing passer, can't believe he was such an unknown to a lot of people.

Been saying it from the beggining of the season, Shved >> Rubio.

It's not even debatable.

Good to see you didn't lose your objectiveness when it comes to Ricky.

We wouldn't have Kirilenko then.

Do I need a Shved jersey? He did a good job with the number choice.

Just noticed Shved looks like Chris Kattan

No. He is a shooting guard who can handle the ball and facilitate. Not a back up point guard.

He was a back up point guard in CSKA. He was the starting point guard in the Russian NT.

In any case, when he played in Europe he was a point guard. He can play both guard positions though so it's not a big deal.

This.... And if Westbrook and Rose are pgs, than is AS also a pg!

If Westrbrook and Rose were 6'6" like Shved is, they would NOT be point guards.
