Lakers won't make finals, says Robert Horry

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Fri Sep 14, 2012 2:29 am

“I don’t think the Lakers are going to be in the NBA Finals, despite Howard and Nash. To go deep into the play-offs, you need a strong bench, not just a great starting line-up. I still believe (last year’s runner-up) Oklahoma City Thunder are the favourites in the Western Conference, and (champions) Miami of course have just gotten stronger with Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis.

You pick up history and you’ll see the bench that outplays its opponents usually wins,” Horry told Mail Today

They won't play the 5 starters together all the time.

Miami didn't have a strong bench in their first year together, though.

Mike Miller had that crap on his shooting hand & Haslem was coming off of an injury & had one good game & faded into obscurity.

dumb

its not like Heat or Thunder had particularly good benches last year. OKC has Harden but hes basically a starter. Lakers could do that with Kobe if they wanted to and have the best "bench" in the league and still have an amazing starting line lol.

silly will smith, antawn jameson coming out of the bench helps provide spark. steve blake and jordan hill are also not back ups.

Meh it's one mans opinion. Although I do agree with him, will anyone be surprised if it's either the Lakers or Thunder that will represent the West?

I agree with him, a strong bench will be important. Locking up Barbosa would really do wonders for them, imo. I do think they can make the finals as presently constructed though.

Aint the first and won't be the last. People will say it until it's proven wrong so right now I'm fine with peoples opinions. I have my own about how things will go down.

I think OKC and Lakers are a 50/50.

OKC players are a year older and a year closer to there primes. I expect them to be better than last year.

If Durant gets even better by the playoffs next year, the OKC team is going to be a scarey team.
