GS messed up royally. They could've had Drummond AND Monroe up front, with Curry/Klay in the backcourt. That could've been a potential dynasty.

I think out here in Warriorland we're generally satisfied with our picks. Don't pretend that if we had drafted Monroe that we would even have had a chance to draft Drummond. Role call Jazz fans...!

I'd be willing to bet Barnes has a greater career than Drummond. Besides, the wins don't lie!

Feeling pretty fat and content at the moment.

1.) don't approve of goldtop baiting, but no one in warriorland was satisfied with Udoh. I think Barnes was the right pick being that you warriors had Bogut and lee and invested quite a bit into both. Additionally Barnes is a great prospect, i don't think when you look at the greatest SF of all time, Barnes is going to be in the discussion, however i can definitely see Drummond as a center being there if he figures it out.

Wow, if serious, I didn't know how highly you Pistons fans regarded him. Better be careful when I talk about him so as not to offend anyone.

Idiot coach...

He does get killed on post match ups a lot. The real idiocy is not switching Bargnani over to center, because the guy actually has the low post strength to guard the stronger big men of the league. I think Dwight started off playing PF at first.

Great video. Basically showing the two things he's really good at: playing in control and his jumper.

Basically at this point, he's such a good shooter which is the main reason he's playing so well right now. It makes him good in the PnR, and makes it so he requires defensive attention all the time. Seriously, I see this guy take shot after shot off pump-fakes and stepbacks, but he's pretty damn good at making them.

He's not explosive or super athletic though, which probably explains his struggles transition-wise, but he's quite quick and does a decent job driving/finishing. I think he can get more FTA in the future though.

Also, I liked the point about how he makes simple passes. Really, he just makes the obvious passes/hits the open guy and doesn't play flashy, which is admirable.

You don't know many Warriors fans, do you?
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

Jeremy Lamb looks like a total scrub with the Thunder.

Could it be that he was overrated?

Lillard & Drummond

Post#267 » by Han Solo » Sat Dec 8, 2012 12:13 am

How did these guys go #6 and #9? Both these guys look like the next big thing at PG and C.

Could this be two of the biggest draft day steals?

Thoughts?

A consensus builds around a false narrative:

Lillard is not a true point guard, Drummond doesn't have the mental makeup for the NBA.

Teams who fail to do their diligence end up messing up their picks, like we did.

Lillard is already 22 and his upside is limited.

No way he's the next nothing at PG position, at best top7, he hasnt a shot at elite PG at all.

How drool-worthy would a Valanciunas-Drummond frontcourt look right about now?

Valanciunas
Drummond
???
DeRozan
Lowry

best potential among the rebuilding teams. But nope, we had to draft Ross (who isn't so bad, but hasn't been given the chance to play) b/c god forbid we even slightly put pressure on Bargnani to perform better by having a rookie who's already better than him competing for playing time.

wat.

drummond has been in no way as impressive as lillard. lillard has played twice the number of minutes and has looked very good/productive. i still dont think drummond will ever be as good as some people think he will, and actually most people thought lillard was going to be pretty good.

Rookie season.

For the love of God, 22 is not 32 he has plenty of development left in him on top of his current level of ability.

i think it's pressure to perform from a high quality championship caliber team.

gotta let him ease in. Find his way with experience. Not playing 5 min one night and 2 minutes another.

Using this logic Tyreke is the next LeBron and Landry Fields a borderline all-star. both look good but both are young and haven't proven much yet. Lillards been given green light and has been great but he is far from a sure bet to do anything. Boy can ball, but the word on stopping him will make the rounds soon and he will hit a wall. How he comes back from that will be best indication of what he can do in this league.

Just to be clear here on how unimpressive Drummond has been, here are Dwight Howard and Andre Drummond's rookie year per 36 numbers:

Rookie per 36:
04-05 Howard 13.2pts (.520 .000 .671) 11.1reb 1.0ast 1.0stl 1.8blk 2.2TO
12-13 Drummd 13.0pts (.567 .500 .390) 13.3reb 0.9ast 1.6stl 2.7blk 1.7TO

I sorta agree with the first statement, but PGs always seem to improve with experience so I wouldn'r say limited.

Less than an unskilled athletic 19-year-old? Yeah, but not limited.

lillard wasn't choosen earlier becase 2,3,4 picks already had pgs. I don't know why kings didn't pick lillard up.
