Muscle is heavier than fat (edit: by volume), so he could have had muscle turn to fat without gaining weight, then gain 7-lbs of fat on top of that.
Muscle can't turn to fat. If you remain the same weight with an obvious change in body composition, you either experienced muscle atrophy with fat gain or experienced fat loss with muscle hypertrophy. Wall seem to have a serious case of water retention and slight fat gain.
