D.Brasco wrote:If you look at the historical list of past NBA MVP winners the list has very little to no aberrations. They're all essentially the most elite players of NBA history.

Even Stave Nash who some have questioned in the past has proven himself to be a top player in NBA history and will go down and has already actually gone down as one of the greatest pg's ever.

So this talk by some people of whatever team has the best record and whatever player is "the best" on that team automatically equals MVP, it doesn't. The MVP award is still reserved for the best of the best in the league.

The Spurs right now are operating more like the 2004 Pistons did, a great team altogether but one that didn't depend wholly on a single player only.

Well said. It's amazing the NBA MVP gets given that it's list of honorees is far more honorable than really any other comparable award in other leagues.

How is durants season just being swept under the rug.
His team has a better record than the heat with one less allstar.
Lebron gets all this better season than jordan talk but he isn't even top 2 in scoring....at his own position.
Durant is avg 1.2 blocks and 1.6 steals.
vs lebrons, .8 blocks and 1.7 steals.

Durant is the redheaded stepchild to the league because he outscores lebron at will and that interferes with lebrons jordan image.
So lebron should be awarded again fot being on a superteam with 3 allstars but durant has the better record with less allstars but he's less than TP.

Bron scores less because he shoots less. The eyes don't fool you into the visible disparity between the two. These opinions aren't formed in a vacuum. Durant's come up short in the head-to-head matchups as well.

D.Brasco wrote:and durant was actually in the lead for MVP talks for most of the year...until lebron ramped it up and the heat capped it off by utterly outplaying the thunder on national television.

You're argument is stuck in janurary. Tony Parker is all the rage now you should hop on that...

I don't know why people say Durant was leading the MVP talks. MVP talks don't get serious in December. PEACE.

Corrected, if these two were officiated in the same way, LeBron would be clearly the better scorer.

H2h matchups my behind. Aren't the heat supposed to beat the thunder? they have more allstars. I'm sorry I am not a sheep.

Why is the Lakers a sub 500 team with 2 allstars and a total of 4 HOFers? Why is the Pacers a 2nd seed in the East with only 1 allstar?

This currently is not in question. We should just wait to see if anything could change that.

Barely even qualifies as an analysis

11 ast don't tell the whole story either. A ton of hockey assists as well. A dominant facilitating performance tonight.

Sore knee and quad. Plus a back to back game tomorrow against Cleveland. But yes, he has set the standard way high

Has there ever been an mvp that wasnt a top 2 scorer at his position and didn't lead the league in any major category?

Hahaha there are barely any straws left my friend. It's not like he has the third highest scoring average in nba history or first amongst active players. Go ahead ask Durant and Kobe to dish out 7-8 assts a game see how much they score

Well let me tell you something, the front runner is not even top 10 in assist, or any other category for that matter besides scoring and fg%( we all know fg% is something that can be protected.)
