Sabonis didn't have great 3pt range, but could hit from about anywhere else just inside the arc. Listed as 7'3 but not sure if that was exaggerated.

it was harder to put a stretch 4/jumpshooter at PF in the past era's because there were more post threats who could punish him on the other end.

now you can count the amount of 4's who post up on 1 hand

He was 7'3 without shoes, 7'4 in today's NBA.

This thread brings up another topic, when will the NBA shift to a "taller" game. Guys like Durant and Lebron already have the ball skills to bring the ball up the court and Lebron has the ability to actually play the PG position at an elite level. Then you have guys like Parsons, Charlie V, Ryan Anderson etc who all mainly play on the perimeter. In 15 years, can you see an NBA with a 6'8 PG, 6'10 SG, and a 7ft front court?

I'm sure people have been saying this since Magic was playing PG (30 years ago). Since then, the league has actually gotten smaller.

If Mullens gains any sort of consistency, there a chance he becomes what you're saying. The dude has legit range, real athleticism and length, and is pretty strong as well, he just hangs out on the perimeter, but he'll step inside now and then and do some work in the middle.

I don't ever seeing it being a taller game, speed and quickness will forever run sports and if not playing in the post strength isn't as important..besides if all the bigs become shooters who are they shooting over? They loose their advantage
But if it does happen look out for a dominant post center and a rebounding guard..what the league has become and what it looks to be the 60's should get the credit any other era deserve

I really don't know much about him, Bobcats I believe? I do watch losing teams but there's no of interest for me to watch them...but I'll start for Mullens..hopefully he defends

It's been around since the beginning of the league. Guys like Dolph Schayes and Bob Pettit were known for being big men who could shoot from outside.

Schayes was only 6-8, 200, but that was considered big in those days. He had this ridiculous rainbow set shot, the kind some geezer uses to score 20 on you at the gym because you're too busy laughing at his 8-year-old-girl shot to guard him.

Pettit used his outside shot to lure Bill Russell away from the rim. It helped the Hawks become the only team to ever beat a Bill Russell Celtics team.

Word of warning: he can do it all or do absolutely nothing on any given night. His shot is the most inconsistent part of his game right now, defense is a close second, but when he's locked in, he's a great shooter, and a much-improved defender with lots of potential.

no, i think the league will actually get smaller, with more 6'9" guys at center. the more and more teams go away from big defensive post presence bigs, the less of a need it is to have them on the floor at all. plus, the game really handcuffs bigmen in general

Valanciunas has close to 3 point range as a 20 year old rookie. Great free throw shooter too so the potential is there. He's known more for his inside presence on the glass and defensively so he sounds like what you're looking for.
