Why doesn't Kobe spend some of that time figuring out how to make his shot selection more efficient and practicing those shots more than the inefficient ones he probably practices.

This is an honest question:

How much longer can Kobe not win, and we get to say:

"Kobe Bryant is just a winner."

"All the dude does is win.."

"Love him or hate him...the dude is a winner."

We are going on three seasons of him, not winning.

I'm being serious here, it seems to me the narrative of a player shifts over time, is this "stats be damned Kobe will shoot the ball, score, has the clutch gene, and he wants it more and he is a winner!" narrative stay cemented, or will he have to leave a better taste in our mouths in his dwindling years than first round exits, and perhaps not making the playoffs with one of the most highly touted NBA rosters in NBA history?

If Bryant doesn't win any more titles, never has another meaningful playoff moment, or game, is that fine? Is his legacy more or less the same?

If Kobe would of retired after the 2010 title, would his legacy have more of a punch right now? Serious idea I'm batting around.
Enjoy every sandwich.

Longevity is never a bad thing if you're still playing at a very high level. I don't see how his career should viewed in a negative light for playing extremely well even in his 17th season. It's not like he's approaching Brandon Jennings like stats and efficiency to the point where he hurts his team in a very negative manner.

Cream always rises. You could argue in nearly every craft, there is a guy out there as dedicated as Bryant is. Bryant's dedication to the game reminds me of Jiro Ono- The greatest sushi chef in the world(Check out Jiro's documentary on Netflix if you have the chance, really inspiring stuff). Jiro's life is 100% dedicated to making sushi, and pushing the limits of the art of sushi making. Like Bryant, Jiro refuses to let off the gas and call it a career.

Damn that Kobe for not winning a title every season. He's such a loser. He's failed to win a title for 2 whole years now. I guess he's not a winner. In order to be a winner you have to be like Timmy D, KG, etc.... oh wait.....

In all seriousness though, what does a player have to do to be a winner? Are 7 finals appearances, 5 rings, being 2 1/2 years removed from back to back titles, and getting into the playoffs damn near every year of a career not enough? The guy is in his 17th season and putting together a fantastic and, in spite of the misguided criticism, pretty efficient season. What does he have do?

Really? You know this thread is about Kobe Bryant, a man that has done everything in the game, and not Jordan Crawford, yes?

Being one of the greatest players to ever grace the hardwood is not enough?

Geez, some will just find flaws in a positive story no matter what, ey?

Yes, because he goes down as one of the greats and has 5 rings, which is generally 5 more than most players that ever get the opportunity.
