Heavily Dissapointed in Top Dogs This Playoffs
I don't know about the others, but i'm pretty much dissapointed in all the top players so far in this playoffs. There isn't one guy that you can say that is flat out dominating, like we used to see in the past. It's pretty much subpar performances all over the board.
Chris Paul - sent home after 1st round
Lebron James - nothing special, still struggling against tougher teams and specific kind of defenses. Obviously he wasn't stoped by just one player cause defense is a team effort, but so called the best player in the game, goat candidate should not be bothered by Jimmy Butler and Bulls B unit.
Kevin Durant - this one is toughest for me. I was really expecting him to reach another level once Westbrook went down. I was expecting 2001 Iverson type of performance, droping 40 and 50 left and right, just killing teams. I wasn't expecting him to beat the Memphis all by himself, but i WAS expecting him to drop at least 40, 45 or 50 on them at least once. Heck he should be droping 40 on them on nightly basis, regardless how good Tony Allen on defense is. You should be doing that if you're considered to be a top 2 player in this league.
Carmelo Anthony - Just horrible. Won't even bother to elaborate this disaster.
Dwayne Wade - I doubt it's all about injurie, he just flat out sucks.
With that being said, playoffs are certanly pretty good and exciting, but when it comes to individual performances of the top players in this league, it's really dissapointment so far, and it makes you wondering how good these guys really are.

Re: Heavily Dissapointed in Top Dogs This Playoffs
Miami's posting an amazing ORTG against one of the best defensive teams in the league, and it all stems from the way they have decided to guard Lebron. Lebrons numbers may be down, but his offensive impact is still there.
Kevin Durant is playing amazing. I'm not sure why anybody would be disappointed in the way he's played. He's basically a 1-man team out there.
I agree with Melo and Wade though, they've been terrible.

Re: Heavily Dissapointed in Top Dogs This Playoffs
Durant in this series.
27/7/7
25/11/5
36/11/9
35/15/6
He's doing all he can, in my opinion. I agree with what Barkley was saying after their last game. The offense stagnates in the fourth and becomes predictable. It's tough when you only have one option, but Scott Brooks takes them out of what they were doing well in terms of ball movement and moves to an isolation Durant offense. Also I don't think that the Iverson type of scoring performances are conducive to winning in the playoffs anymore. Defenses are too good and have changed their schemes, so it requires more team effort now than it did then. So I think Durant is doing the best he can and they play best when it is a team game with ball movement - not Durant isolating to score 40 or 50.

1) CP3 is just a PG and by far the smallest guy on the court. I agree that he doesn't get enough criticism, but he didn't have a bad series (just not a great one)
2) The whole Heat team seems to be playing at 75% capacity. They were sleepwalking during the last game and still won by 20. Oh, and Lebron went 27/8/7. Shut down you say?
3) http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-trian ... ies-so-far
Just read this article. You can't beat a team playing 1 on 5
4) I agree. Melo is and will always be a loser
5) Dude has 3 bone bruises! He's at like 50-70% healthwise, I don't think he will get any better either. But he played really well during the regular season, he's not "done"

People need to realize how tough it is being the only star on your team Being D-Rose, 80s MJ, Cavs LBJ, KD over the last few games is a difficult, difficult job. Those that can overcome it are nothing short of unstoppable/incredible (MJ Cavs upset for example)

I don't think you can make the case for D-Rose with the others you mentioned. The Bulls have made the 2nd round with a heavily depleted roster completely without Derrick. That's not something you can say for most teams.

75% injuries and 25% bad fashion sense.

No, he isn't. The only thing he's struggling with right now is his jumper. Miami's offense is killing the bulls and it's in large part because of James

Pretty much this, although Wade is playing through injury so I've got to give him a pass so far. No excuses for those pants though, that is turrible.

You know what's sad about most basketball fans? It's that they can only appreciate offensive accomplishment.
Watching Thib's defense is something I enjoy immensely. Watching out for defensive schemes that shut down top tier players is simply poetic.
You're seeing this as top tier players failing to perform.
I'm seeing this as top tier defenses not failing to.
Maybe you just like sweet popcorn while I like salty, or maybe there is more to basketball than one side of the floor.

You mean against half that team right? No point in throwing out "one of the best defensive teams in the league" when half their team is playing hurt or out.

Yeah, that's some hyperbole right there, but the larger point still stands. Miami has the #1 Ortg in the playoffs, the #1 Drtg in the playoffs, a +17.4 MOV in the playoffs. They're shooting 50% from the floor, eFG% of 54.5, while holding their opponent below 41% shooting (44.5 eFG%). When the team is humming along like this, I don't get why people want Lebron to be doing more.

you could also include harden. shooting an abysmal 39% is not exactly what i except from a franchise player, even iverson would laugh about him.
or dwight. being in foul trouble for pretty much the whole damn series and shooting 44% from the charity stripe is just ridiculous.
or let's talk about the second tier of nba stars. memphis frontcourt made blake griffin look like a high school player. iabaka without westbrook makes me feel ill. tyson chandler is a disgrace.
that's what we always have to remember: stop overrating the regular season.
the post-season reveals the bitter truth.
