Where is that passion in the NBA? The only time i've seen it was when Dirk won the title in 2011. I dont see it from American players.

In the NBA and all professional American sports, there is no repurcussion of losing. Nothing bad happens when you lose. You don't get relegated. Nothing. Things just reset next season and you go on to try to win again, or to tank and try to get a good pick so you can win eventually.

For some players, basketball is just one part of their life and a means to success. For others, it's their life. There are plenty of players old and current that play/played with intense passion. Kobe, KG, Joakim Noah, Iverson, CP3, MJ, Magic, Bird ect... to name a few. Heck, Derek Fisher actually teared up during a press conference after a win in the 2010 finals against the Celtics.

I see NBA players cry all the time. Also most players cry, but not in public.

Because the East sucks. If we abolished conferences more players would cry.

I'm sure there was tons of concern on either side of relegation.

What did Liverpool get by winning this game? Did this win secure them as first place or something?

The game also was also a 25th anniversary of a disaster where a bunch of fans died at Liverpool. Including a close friend (or cousin?) of Gerrard.

Fortunately there isn't a similar situation in the NBA.

That's balderdash. NBA players cry after winning championships, and conversely after losing hard fought series and being eliminated. Some of it we see, most of it we don't because it takes place behind closed doors.

These are human natural human emotions. Some players respond with over emotion, some don't. Phil Mickelson smiles and pumps his fist when he wins, Bubba Watson cries like a baby. Just look at that video. One guy is crying, the rest are just smiling and pumped.

Soccer or other "non-American" sports don't have the market on emotional sports passion cornered. People are people. The entire premise of this thread is nonsensical.

Players usually cry after winning a championship not winning a regular season game that gets them nothing.

It was the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. And a huge win for Liverpool propelling them to the top of the table and in fine position to win the league.

But they won't. Chelsea will.
