Australian NBA.com Portal
Sportal.com is what Aussies get forwarded to instead of NBA.com.
its the worse piece of poop ever.
Its incompatible with Chrome, and it posts data way too delayed. Ive missed entire games because of it.
It still has Wash v Bulls in 3rd quarter, and the game is finished after overtime.
Also their articles are a joke. Spurs vs Warriors game a while ago. Front page. Bogut vs Mills. Lol wtf. Yeah theyre Aussies, but as patriotic as I am Im not watching it for them.
FIrst thing i do is press the NBA.com link, but its crap how we have to go through the portal every friggen time.
they must have given an arm and a leg for the license to nba.com.

Re: Australian NBA.com Portal
I just click straight to the nba.com site.
Sportal is a pile of steaming trash. Even the website's design makes it look cheap, and trash.

Its the worst piece of **** in existence. The NBA box scores are also 30 minutes behind real time consistently. Do they seriously expect anyone to use it?

Re: Australian NBA.com Portal
This is probably the worse thing in my life. Every week I have to set it to the US NBA.com as it resets back to Sportal on a weekly basis. Hopefully the knob jockeys lose money from it and lose the license.
First world probs definitely but to be fair even third world countries don't have to deal with Sportal.

Assuming Windows:
1. Click Start
2. Right click on notepad
3. Select "Run as administrator"
4. File > Open
5. Open /WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
6. Go to the bottom of the file and create a new line
7. Type: "nba.com 157.166.248.245" (without the quotes) (It's possible you may need to reverse the order, depending on setup)
8. Save the file
9A. In a command prompt type: "ipconfig /flushdns"
9B. Restart your browsers
10. You'll never be redirected to Sportal again
Assuming Mac:
1. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
2. Type: "sudo nano /private/etc/hosts" (without the quotes)
3. Go to the bottom of the file and create a new line
4. Type: "nba.com 157.166.248.245" (without the quotes) (It's possible you may need to reverse the order, depending on setup)
5. Save the file (Control-O to save, press enter, then Control-X)
6. In the Terminal, type: "dscacheutil -flushcache" (without the quotes)
7. Restart your browsers
8. You'll never be redirected to Sportal again
EDIT:
If anyone follows these directions and gets lost or confused, PM me.

I never go to nba.com anyway, I use ESPN which I think is a much better interface.

Re: Australian NBA.com Portal
It's shocking, so pointless.
Seriously, I'm getting updates like "Mills played 14 minutes in game 1!" as their headline, it's really frustrating. They have their own box scores and other pages and they're all inferior to the main website as well.
I always click on through to the main site, but it's a little tedium that annoys me big time.

Re: Australian NBA.com Portal
I can feel you guys. Whenever I'm in Germany I get redirected to another, probably just as horrible page, too. And it takes like 10 times to get actually directed to nba.com when clicking the button/setting for the official US page.
Thankfully I live in another country where nobody cares about basketball which doesn't give the NBA any ideas to sell the rights to a crappy 2nd party.

Re: Australian NBA.com Portal
I just go straight to the nba league pass website to watch the games. Or espn nba page.
The nba.com site has always been terrible since the late 90's.

Thank you so much for this! In Step 7 for windows, I had to type "157.166.248.245 nba.com" instead, but it has worked like a charm!
