According to this, Ben Gordon should pay 500000 to play for an NBA-Team

Dallas overpaid but it will probably be worth it in the end.

Marvin Williams gets paid 2 million less than Lance Stephenson, Charlotte was on a mission to get a Jazz player

Obviously putting a ton of stake in one stat but this is cool and informative. Makes me all the happier when Bargs and Amare are gone.

Interesting analysis. Stats will always be a tough way to characterize players and you'll have some ones that you can see are clearly wrong (Collison being worth 10 mil, Augustin worth 11 mil, etc.). On the other hand you can see that guys like Jeff Adrien are more than worth their contract when it's tough to see that with just traditional stats.
I like that Aaron Gray should be paid 178k and Brandon Rush should give a team 712k to play for them. Also like seeing that Miles is basically spot on (a tad overpaid) by this. You should add Stuckey though.

Thanks for all the feedback.
Yeah, there are flaws with wins shares that unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to address but still figured it would be the best overall metric to try this with (I considered PER, when I have free time I'll try pluggin in PER as well just out of curiosity)
This year yes, but his deal is 5/$60m, so he makes an average of $12m per year which is what I used in this
Stuckey, Rodney
Contract: 1y/$1,227,985
Win Shares: 2.2
Cost per win: 558175
Difference per win: $1,221,825
Annual real contract value: $3,916,000

Player's Win Shares are directly influenced by a team's number of wins. Referring to WS calculations...In my system, one win is equivalent to one Win Share.
There is occasional error, however the intention is that the Win Shares are divvied up amongst the players according to varying factors (mostly performance based) that will cumulatively be about the number of wins the team itself had.

That's why lesser players whom happen to play on good teams are supposedly much more valuable than players whom are believed to be better by contrast that play on bad teams.

Williams, Mo
Contract: 1y/$3,750,000
Win Shares: 2.2
Cost per win: 1,704,545.45
Difference per win: $75,455

Closest one yet in terms of actual contract/projected contract, wonder if Flip Saunders has been reading this thread (if you're reading this Flip Saunders send Kevin Love to the bay already you don't need Klay)
I'll add Parker when his contract extension info is released, are there any other recent signings I'm missing?

Sixers signed Pierre Jackson who is missing from the list.
~500k for a guy who will not play the whole season, so what does that equal when you divide 500k by 0? That cost per win is going to look rather poor.

Sixers are a unique situation where I'm sure they're intentionally paying for losses, haha

2015 1st (top 3 protected) for Asik (expiring)
TBD.
***I'm not thrilled at the notion of not bringing in any 1st round for three straight seasons (including 2015), but a lot could change between now and next June.

We overpaid Irving but it was for the greater good.
