Does Minnesota deserve an NBA team?

Post#1 » by deanwoof » Thu Aug 14, 2014 6:55 pm

They've been to the playoffs 8 times since inception in 1989. 17 misses in 25 years. In comparison, the Orlando Magic came in the same year as an expansion team, and have missed 11 years. Even the Charlotte Hornets have made it 9 times (with 2 years not even 'in the league' with the New Orleans fiasco). The Miami heat have missed the playoffs 8 times.

Minnesota has been in the northwest division and in the western conference since i can remember. geographically it has made no sense as a midwest state. Who's the last big name free agent they have signed besides their own? You know the stories about KG, Love, Wally, Billups, Joe Smith - they can barely retain their own free agents.

I say move them. Move them away to Seattle. They can start over as a franchise with Wiggins as the face of the franchise a la OKC and Durant.

What does Minnesota have to do to "deserve" an NBA team? Their playoff futility isn't the fans' fault.

what about Milwaukee? what FA has gone there? 8 playoffs in 23 years, just once past the 1st round.

You can make arguments for a lot of teams similar to Milwaukee and Minnesota.

If anything they "deserve" better management.

Minnesota has seen 5 NBA championships.

What an idiotic thread. If anything that Wolves fans have stayed loyal over their decade plus of futility to the point where they deserve credit. Our attendance is never great, but I'm pretty sure it also isn't the worst either. The Twin Cities is like the 13th big TV market in the US and tons of fans in the Dakotas, Iowa etc call themselves Wolves fans. Why should fans be punished for poor ownership? Should Portland be removed from the NBA because they really are a small market and the Jailblazers of the 90s? Go eat some granola .....

Pro basketball has brought 7 titles to Minnesota. Yes, we deserve a team.

As long as Glen Taylor is the owner of this team, for better or worse, the Wolves aren't going anywhere.

The difference between the Magic and the Wolves is the Magic were lucky enough to get the #1 pick three times and get a top 3 Center of all-time and Dwight with the other.

That is the difference in the 6 playoff appearances.

That doesn't even need to be asked.

T Wolves have a decent following on RealGM, joke would be more relevant for the Thunder on the other hand.
Looking for a new signature. Currently, still evaluating.

Results have nothing to do with the fans.
And anyway, Minnesota is tied for 4th for cities with the most NBA titles so the argument is pretty moot.

Well, OP, your home team passed on two of the greatest players ever so I wouldn't be throwing too many stones in that glass house of yours.
That's hilarious and co

The T-Wolves have made the playoffs more in the last 25 years than the Clippers or Warriors.

Let's be sure to contract them, too.

Both teams haven't been able to retain the superstars they've gotten, but let's not pretend like the Wolves have just been oh so unlucky with draft picks/talent on their roster. :D
