Spain is on a different level. Probably the best team they've ever had.

The Spanish team is amazing. But at the same time, we're playing our worst game so far. Such laziness

and home court adv. definitely is a factor. Helped Turkey a ton in 2010 and Slovenia last year.

and Spain is the only team with all of their top players.

Spain is scary good... I'm starting to think that they are better than Team Usa... They are so good and so deep and they play together for so many years.

.
Yet I heard here in RealGM that a C team USA would crush every team in this world championship just out of talent
.
Spain is crazy good. They not only have talent, but also have depth (having Ibaka is awesome) and have been playing together for years and years

When you have Pau Gasol/Marc Gasol/Serge Ibaka at the 4/5 positions that's better than any NBA team.

Rubio is better than he's ever been, combine that with the shooting of Calderon...

Rudy Fernandez and Navarro on the wings...

Plus a Spurs-esq chemistry on offense... and you have a recipe for success at any level against anyone (only a full strength USA team would be 75/25 favs imho).

Spain is probably a 60/40 fav against the current USA B team to me...

Seems to me like Marc is in the best shape I've ever seen him. Pretty amazing when you compare him to his dough boy high school days in Tennessee.

I don't see any way that this team loses to USA unless they have an epic collapse! They have to be considered the favourite, due in large part to their point guard and big man play!

That pick and roll is unstoppable with all the shooters spacing the floor!

USA has no chance

They might not even medal

I see what you did there.

Regardless USA is going to be in the final. Group C and D are a joke..so horrible that it makes the NBA's eastern conference look like it's filled with juggernauts.

Davis/Faried/Cousins > Gasols/Ibaka
Irving/Rose > Rubio/Calderon

And that's it for competent NBA players on team Spain.

Rest of team USA >>>>> rest of team Spain

Give Spain the edge for chemistry and home court, but to say the talent levels of these teams is close is very wrong. Team USA is far superior in that regard, and it would certainly be an upset if Spain were to win. I'd be about as surprised as if a 13 upset a 4 in the NCAA tournament, which happens fairly often, but still the 13 is nowhere near the talent level of the 4.

Group C and D are so weak compared to A and B, if the USA doesn't medal it would be a huge flop.

There's really only one team in C or D that has much of any chance to beat the USA before the title game:
Lithuania- and they already lost their PG Kalnietis for the tournament.

FIBA and circumstances have given the USA what should be a cakewalk to the title game. Spain's side of the bracket will be much tougher.

Fernandez, Lull, Navarro and Calderon are great shooters too... Rodriguez, Pau Gasol and Ibaka can shoot as well. So i don't see that great advantage for team USA.
