LeBron is the obvious MVP. Absolutely punked Curry on a national TV primetime game. Unfortunately his 2 week rest resulted in Cleveland showing how useless they were without him and pretty much losing every game, so the Cavs will not have the win total of the Warriors.

But make no mistake about it - LeBron is the rightful MVP over Curry.

1 game sample size where they're the home team and he never guards Curry? Seems reasonable, but how do you explain the statistical inferiority of Lebron to Curry... or Harden/Westbrook/AD...?

There is no statistical inferiority of LeBron to any of those guys. The stats and the eye test all confirm he is a superior player to Curry, Westbrook, Davis and Harden.

Let's compare the two?

Curry: 24/5/8 +2.2 spg on 48/40/91 in 33 mpg

Lebron: 26/6/7 +1.5 spg on 49/34/73 in 36 mpg

TS%: Curry 62% > LBJ 58%

ORating: Curry 121 > LBJ 111

PER: Curry 27.6 > LBJ 25.8

WS/48: Curry .284 > .187 (that really is murder)

BPM: Curry 9.6 > LBJ 6.8

VORP: Curry 5.3 > LBJ 4.0

RPM: Curry 8.6 > LBJ 6.4

WAR: Curry 12.7 > LBJ 9.1

I don't know, you get the point. This could go on a while. LBJ is not in his ballpark statistically.

People can take the "the media is tired of the Lebron narrative" stance all they want, but the fact of the matter is that he's having both one of the worst statistical seasons since his rookie year and is not competitive in that regard with Curry or Harden.

 BPM, VORP, WAR and WS/48 are worthless stats. Absolutely useless and have no bearing on MVP.

TS% is an ok stat but not necessarily better than FG%, where LeBron beats Curry. LeBron also scores a lot more and is a far, far superior rebounder. Expect LeBron's PER to be as good as Curry's if not better by the season's end if he keeps playing at this rate. Even so, the difference is quite negligible.

Finally, any meaningful stat that captures defense should support LeBron, as he is much better on that end than Curry. The Cavs DRTG in the last 20 games since LeBron's return is a testament to this.

Curry is a good player, perhaps top 15 this year, and a cog in a well-oiled machine of a team. LeBron is the entire machine himself. Easily the MVP over Curry.

It's not even worth reading the rest of your response when you throw out ridiculous stuff like this. LeBron is only averaging 2.3 more points per game than Curry but he scores a lot more? Come on man.

I started here writing to take you to task for being another person to mention LeBron, but there is something to what you say. If:

The Cavs end up with win totals in the high 50s.
No other MVP candidate is on a team more than a few wins ahead of that total.
LeBron clearly has the best production stats.

That might be enough for him to win.

Anything short of that though and know one should talk about him as a serious MVP candidate. Simply put: We don't give the MVP to the guy who had the best 2nd half of the season simply because was already seen as the best player before the season started. It's a full season award.

Haven't you talked about hating curry In this thread?

Also what does Jordan's dominance have to do with Lebrons and the correlation to whether he should of won MVP very year since 09 bar last year? Each yeah is different with deferent circumstances, team and player performance.
Simply comparing him to a player from yesteryear is irrelevant. The only way to look at it is year by year.

Nah, I said I dislike Curry more than any player in the NBA.
I bring up Jordan because history shows that LeBron won't win MVP this year.
You don't win MVP when the other DOMINANT players in the NBA have a better win/loss record than you.
Whereas if the teams with superior win/loss records are comprised of players that share the wealth like Billups/Prince/Hamilton/Wallace Pistons or the great Spurs teams, then LeBron would win MVP.
But instead you have a Golden State team completely reliant on Curry, and a Houston team completely reliant on Harden.
Curry and Harden are the only guys that can win the MVP unless Cleveland overtake Golden State/Houston in the standings.

Good grief you can't say Lebron has the best production stats when he's behind Curry in just about every metric there is ...

Not sure if you are trolling or you are just obtuse.
