The Lakers are tanking

Sacre getting the starting role over Davis.... Sacre getting more minutes then Davis..... Tarik Black getting DNP...... something weird and fishy is going on with the Lakers..... how do people manage to watch these guys play on a nightly basis with no identity or pride?

The fact that two perfectly healthy big men over the height of 6'6 are getting benched for Robert Sacre says it all.

They have a top-5 protected pick. They can't take any chances. I have less a problem with this than with teams that will get their pick no matter what and will deliberately pile up the losses with young cores.

It's being difficult for me as a guy who has been a fan of the lakers since his 10th birthday and is now closing to 40...

And even more difficult when my "sports culture" makes accepting tanking impossible.

I understand it, i see the need of it, the inevitability of it... but man, this sucks and hurts.

Its kind of stupid...the Lakers last season were actually pretty fun to watch, I remember the Christmas game and Swaggy taking it to the Heat for a decent time before the game slipped out of reach. LA's been my team since I've been into basketball but this is such a bad way to end the Kobe era. There's no reason why Young and Lin and all them shouldn't be competing and getting their minutes over turds who shouldn't be in the league. That's why I've enjoyed the sixers so much these past two years, barely any talent, but they compete and play to win every game. Scott should be fired and the Buss' should sell the team, they're making a mockery of their dad's team.

Coach perspective

Brad Stevens played Sullinger, Bass, Turner, Bradley & Prince the most to get 2 road WC B2B wins last week. If he played Smart with his broken shot or Crowder with his suspect D more than the vets, I could see him tanking.

Slava runs his board his way, but other boards like LG are seriously wondering if Byron Scott knows how to cook even if he gets better ingredients. 10 years from now when people go to bbref, they are going to wonder how Ronnie Price got starts (I'm not sure why he has lasted a decade in the league). Why Sacre got starts? Why is Ryan Kelly playing the 3? Why is anybody still playing the Princeton O at the pro level in 2015?

IMO, Byron Scott (and his ex-wife) made million$ by being gifted Jason Kidd & Chris Paul on a few of his teams. Just a very baffling coach.

Wes Johnson has to have the lowest basketball IQ in the entire league. I wouldn't start Kelly over him but doing so isn't unjustified. Robert Sacre over Ed Davis on the other hand...
