Kobe Bryant vetoed trade to Detroit, considered joining the Bulls - full interview with Grantland (Video)

Post#1 » by JaysRangers » Thu Mar 5, 2015 11:44 am

Video: http://thefanaticsview.com/basketball/k ... interview/

Kobe Bryant sits down with Grantland (Jalen Rose & Bill Simmons) to discuss his new documentary “Muse”, the comparison with Russell Westbrook, his relationship with Shaq and Phil Jackson, the evolution of basketball and retirement.

Other notes:
Kobe vetoed a trade to Detroit in 2007 for Rip + Prince & picks, Chicago was on top of his wish list when he made trade demands, believes he could have won 5-6 rings with Shaq

Not a big Laker or Kobe fan but this is good stuff. 45 minute interview with Grantland.

Also i've heard 'Muse' is fantastic

What's with this surge of Kobe doing specials and interviews like this?

Isn't that common knowledge? I'm 99% sure I already heard him saying that stuff before.

For anyone following basketball at the time it's common knowledge. A lot of posters (esp on the GB) weren't following even that short time ago.

First i've heard of it, perhaps it's new to some. Simmons poses the question as "is it true you stopped a trade to the Pistons" so i guess it's not widely known.

Always cool to see good interviews with Kobe...but it seems like he's repeating himself bcoz all the questions are more or less same in the last month or so.

Also..inb4 Kobe wanted to copycat MJ by joining Bulls :D

Does Kobe regret that decision now? He would have been a perfect fit with the Pistons.

There was a pretty big group, I would even say the majority, who said the Chicago stuff was all fiction and Kobe never wanted to leave LA and was just using rumors to pressure the front office.

Man what could have been if he would have just accepted that trade.

Kobe being added to that team would never have worked. The Pistons only had an older Sheed and Billups to put around Kobe.

I don't know, they were still in the ECFs that year and replacing Rip and Prince with Prime Kobe May have pushed them to a title. But Billups was a floor general that completely controlled that offense so I'm not sure how well him and Kobe would mesh or if they would just diminish each other's talents.
