JR is a very good player when he is focused as he is now with LeBron and the Cavs. He displayed it in Denver and for a small time in NY as well. What happens when he is NOT focused is why he has the reputation he does. Let's see what happens in a year or so. Can LeBron keep him focused?

improper wrote:I''m a little surprised he's playing this well in the playoffs given his history, but I think JR is just a good fit in Cleveland. He's mostly asked to catch the ball and shoot, which is something he's totally fine with. He gets enough shots that he's also fine passing the ball, and he's a pretty good passer when he tries to be. He's definitely going to take some bad shots from time to time, but by and large I've been happy with him as a Cavs fan.

JR is one of the better assist shooting guards in the game, when he's playing inspired basketball. Catching and shooting is his forte, catching passes from LeBron/Irving should only help him. JR is still prone to his bone headed moves from time to time, but his ability to pull plays out of his behind at times makes him so... right? [JR Smith song youtube]

Goes to show how well you play when Lebron is your teammate.

That or there really is nothing to do in Cleveland besides hoop and sleep.

He said it himself, he was distracted being on the Knicks and being in a town where clubs are open all night. It was not the right place for him and it showed.

Hawks fans should come out the next game with JR's Kryptonite

When he got traded everyone assumed he would pick up his player option. If he keeps this up he'll definitely be getting more years and more money.

So much wrong with this thread. J.R. is not a person you should be idolizing in any way.

But he has always been a guy who is a very dangerous "microwave" type shooter who when he gets hot can heat up and just hit ridiculous shots from all angles. And in Cleveland the key is that with Bron and Kyrie dominating the ball, he's being given less discretion to throw up all the dumb and selfish shots that have always been his flipside. J.R. out of control is a danger to both teams. J.R. properly channeled is just dangerous to the opponent.

I guess that there is some truth that the Cavs demand less of JR, but not really. What the Cavs definitely do, is that when a guy is hot they continue to feed them over and over again. They've done the same with Shump, Kyrie, Delavadova, Love and of course JR to give each a big game at some time or another

Exactly if Jr is off then you can expect atleast one other shooter to be hot at some point in the game. We seen it with JR,JJ, Shump, Delly so far in this post season.

This is what made/ makes the cavs so deadly. Love, Irving and smith are all capable of hitting 5 or more threes in every given game and then there's like five or six more guys that can make the three. Just a ridiculous squad

What would happen if you put JR and Nick Young on the same team?

Would that much Swag overload?

I guess JR is one of those guys who finally achieved manifest destiny by playing on the team that complemented him perfectly. Not everyone gets that chance.
