As a hispanic I don't know whether to laugh at or feel insulted by this thread.

Really? In my inoccence, I though it was English.

Also, now ethnicity changes according the language spoken? Are afro and caucasian people defined differently in other languages as well or only the latinos have this privilege?

latino has nothing to do with ethnicity or race. it is a word notates person from south america, central america or mexico. you can be white, brown, martian etc and still called latino as long as you have ties to those regions. stop trying to change a language one message board post at a time.

This mean "caucasian latino", "afro latino" and even "japanese (or nipo) latino" are correct, right?

jesus christ man... "Latino" isn't a race, there's a reason jj barea (or louis Ck for that matter) is as latino as al horford is.

their actual racial markup is completely different.

yeah there are white and black latinos, that was my point. One notates race other geographical location.

Tell me, how many Latino Grammys does Ricky Martin Have?
Btw Venezuela is caribean too for example.
Try telling a Cuban that he is not Latino.
Or a Dominican.

Venezuela is also in South America. I lived in the DR and I don't remember anyone identifying as Latino.

If you want to extend "Latino" across all Latin speaking countries then you need to include France, Italy, Moldova, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Monaco, San Marino, and Andorra.

Ok so France Romania Italy etc is Latino. Ok whats the big deal?

It's not a big deal, I'm just pointing out there there are several legitimate interpretations of "Latino."
