Obviously, She can't take away her brother's ownership claim but the firing would have nothing to do with that. She is his boss in terms of how the hierarchy is set up. Having said that, i'm not comfortable at all having Jeanie making any decisions regarding the team, but that's another matter entirely.

I'm sure Jimbob is earning a salary for his self-created "Executive VP of basketball operations" title in addition to his cut of the profits as owner. If he lost his title as the self-proclaimed "Executive VP of basketball operations" then he'd just be an owner sitting in the booth watching the games with no real role in the day to day operations, which is how it should be. He's not a basketball mind.

Dr. Buss, the greatest owner in all of sports, wasn't a basketball mind either. But he recognized that about himself and hired the best people to make basketball decisions for him. What ODB was amazing at was his people skills. He stayed out of the way until there was inner turmoil within the organization, and then he'd find a way to quash it. Or he got involved when it came to recruiting and closing the deal. He was incredibly charismatic, and of course intelligent (PHD in Chemistry). Jimbob just doesn't have those intangibles. It's impossible to follow up a legend. He should really be a background owner.

That's fine and dandy, but it was also Dr. Buss who pushed for Jim to be president of basketball operations.

Dr. Buss knew he had to pass the keys to the franchise to someone else eventually. He was getting old. Would you want your life's work in the hands of a manipulative, egomaniacal control freak in Phil Jackson, or your own offspring? Why did it take Dr. Buss lying on his death bed for Phil Jackson to propose to Jeannie? For as great as PJ was as a coach, he isn't one to be trusted. I've spoken on this topic before about the "old school conglomerate" of Jeannie, Phil and Magic all forming an alliance to push out Jim. Dr. Buss wasn't stupid. He could see what was happening and he had to protect his most prized possession. Keep it in the family.

Most family businesses take 3 generations to disintegrate but it looks like the Buss family will do it in two.

Precisely, she makes most decisions based on emotion than logic. I'd love it if she hired an established GM and gets the F out of the way though.
