Phil tried to pull this on the Lakers in 2011, Jerry Buss told him where to go. The whole concept is frankly bizarre.

If this is true and works out, I guess his away-games coach will wear a headset and receive orders from it. No communication back to Phil though lol

this came out the exact same time as another report that says phil will return to the lakers, lol, opposite stories at the same time, if you average them out, means nothing will change

This would only work if the team is coached by an assistant coach during away games, which is probably not ideal.

Phil could probably pull this off better than most coaches. He's not a micro manager in games. His philosophy is that most of the important coaching is done during practices. As long as he sets the rotation and a game plan in the home games it might just work somewhat. If Phil can teach the triangle and reach through to the players to the players in practice so away coach only has to run his rotation and call time outs then it probably won't be a complete disaster (like it would if Rambis or Shaw is coach full time).

Only way I see it happening is if it is a factor in a player like Durant signing. Don't see Phil coaching without KD on the roster and KD probably only considers the Knicks if Phil is more involved.

I always wondered if that was just Buss leaking propaganda to cool down the mob after they turned Phil down. Looks like it was true, and they were right to turn him down. Bizarre indeed.

I heard this on the radio earlier today. Not sure how true it is, but the idea is for Rambis to stay on as the away game coach. Realistically, nobody wants to hire Rambis so you'd assume he'd take the gig if it were offered.

So Phil is going to come in and do what exactly? His offensive schemes are nonsensical without a dynamically athletic wing-scorer, he has always relied on his assistants defensively, and he is seventy years old! Excuse me for being so blunt, but I would tell Phil Jackson to piss off, he is nothing more than name recognition at this point.
