Will Lakers Make Playoffs?

The Lakers just destroyed the Warriors and they've managed to survive a brutal start to the season as far as strength of schedule goes. Every team they faced was a playoff team with the exception of Utah who just missed out and likely would've made it had Gobert not been hurt. They're obviously very young, but the hiring of Luke has clearly changed the dynamics of that team. All of a sudden they're playing inspired, team basketball. Obviously very early in the season, but if they continue to improve which they should as Ingram and the rest of the young guys getmore experience I don't see why not.

They've made strides, no doubt, but I highly doubt they're going to avoid the lottery this year. They're still a super young team whose play is going to be up and down, and their vets aren't big production guys to carry things.

It's for the best anyway, strong lottery this year. I think they add one more building block then perhaps make a leap next year, though I still think the playoffs is a stretch.

I doubt it, they lost to the Pacers who pretty much suck right now. Tonight was a nice win, but bad teams upset good teams every season, doesn't usually mean much.

The positive if they do, for Suns fans, and of course Lakers fans, is that the Knight trade wouldn't seem nearly as bad, even though it would still be bad.

Too early to tell though.

Going to need at least 44 wins to make the playoffs in the West. Hard to imagine this team going from 17 wins to 44+ by just adding Mozgov, Deng and Ingram and a far superior coaching staff. Plus a better version of D'Angelo Russell, Larry Nance Jr, Nick Young, Lou Williams, and a healthier Julius Randle. They also lost a player who put up one of the most historically inefficient seasons in NBA history. Hot damn I think I just talked myself into thinking it's possible.

As a laker fan, no. Vegas had us at 24.5 games at the start of the season. My guess is we hit around 27-30. That'd be a nice improvement off of last year's 17 games.

In fairness we've led in the 4th quarter in 5 of our 6 games which isn't bad. Beat the rockets, hawks and warriors

i dont like the lakers im not a fan of them but my favorite years of watching basketball as a kid was lakers being awesome and wrecking the league. so for nostalgia purposes i hope they do and its great for the league

It actually might be possible they slide in with like 38-40 wins. The West looks awful so far outside of SAS and GS, wouldn't be surprised if only two teams in the West win 50 games this year. Granted a small sample size but teams we expect to be in the playoffs have gotten off to ugly starts.

Well depends.. I thought the Kings would be a 8th-7th seed but yet they're losing games to Orlando and such.. anything is possible after the top four. I will say that the Lakers got one with Luke Walton as coach. Steve Kerr is lookin' real funny in the light

If they keep making strides chances are their 2017 pick will go to Philly (it's protected for picks 1-3)

Those 90s throw back jerseys were cool tonight. Made me remember Frobe.

I think we win 30 games and give the pick to the 76ers. No chance we keep it without some lucky ping pong balls.

Next 6 games versus weak opponents tell us more.
But who knows?
1) really hard start of the season (6 PO teams, 4 on road, b2b @ATL, and Warriors) - but 3-3 record.
2) Lakers are worst team at uncontested shots in the league so far! (with so many good shooters).
3) Young players should be only better
4) Walton looks like great coach, and step by step Lakers should improve their game

If i'm a Lakers fan right now, i'm pretty nervous that that they could finish around 9th. A doldrums of a season that slows down and hurts the rebuild and there's nothing to show for it except for, most likely, a 'best' case scenario of a non-competitive 1st round exit.
