Will Cleveland land a superstar this summer?

Post#1 » by nbafan38 » Mon Jun 26, 2017 1:38 am

Cleveland is trying very hard to upgrade to be able to enhance their odds of keeping Lebron and competing with GS, with Butler traded, it seems George and Carmelo are now their main targets. Will they land either or possibly get some other superstar?

I think they can, should, and will land Melo all the while keeping Love, which is the right thing to do.

Carmelo is not a superstar.

I would say no on acquiring a superstar.

I would have said yes if Griffin was there as he had a penchant for pulling off deals such as these, but not sure anymore.

After firing their GM with no replacement the night before the draft and knowing Bron has at least a decent chance to leave them shortly? Slim to no chance.

Undecided, but it's Paul George or bust as far as superstar goes

Well, does Paul George count as a superstar? I think they'll get him.

Seems a lot less likely without anyone at the helm to make moves.

Letting Griffin go was such a boneheaded move. Unless it comes out that Griffin was in the process of doing something really dumb.
Gilbert really seems to have screwed the pooch on this one. Hopefully we are judging too soon, but so far I am not happy.

They already have 3 superstars and 2 other stars right now.

Yep.

Curious about those 2 other stars. Who are you talking about?

I'm also curious how Kevin Love is considered a such a superstar that no one wants to take him?

Love is a top 20 player at best, but anyone trying to sell the narrative that the Cavs have 3 superstars needs Love to be a lot better than that. I've come to terms with that argument, bad as it is.

It's these other 2 stars that I'm curious about. JR Smith and Tristan Thompson maybe? I'm not even sure who he is overrating in this case.

They will do anything for Love

The thing about kevin love is while he has become a decent defender with good instincts insides he is helpless against GS in the pick and roll and he would really need to put up big numbers on high efficiency to even out his defensive liability vs GS. And all the contenders there are who really needs him to be the #1 option? While it's clear he hasn't been used to his own personal best potential the cavs have been historically elite on offense with him and James so I don't know how much you can advocate for getting rid of something that works so well just to help love personally.
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

Butler removing rearview mirror in his car as a symbol to never look back

How many superstars in the league are there? Paul George is a borderline top 20 player.

Either way i'm going to say no. I think he'll be traded to Boston.

I hope Cavs get Melo for Love in some sort of trade. It'll help the Celtics chances somewhat.

I think he's generally considered a top 10 player
