Does anyone even stand a hope against the Nuggets next year?

Post#1 » by CpttCanada » Fri Sep 1, 2023 7:01 am

And before you just got swept Lakers fans jump in, just stop. We don't want to hear it, you aren't part of this conversation. Everyone knows nothing is happening there. But does any team actually stand a chance? The real teams who could take them in a year or two aren't ready yet. Am I wrong here?

Boston seems to be the best team on paper.

I mean, they lost some guys. But jokic alone makes them a contender.

It's difficult to repeat in the NBA unless you have multiple stars/superstars peaking at the same time. So if Jokic and Murray can prove they are on Steph level for years, they have a shot of at least a back to back or even a dynasty.

i think they won't.

A lot of teams. Suns were decent against them and will be again. Nuggets won't repeat.

Denver lost their 6th and 7th men and didn't bring in any notable replacements. Their roster goes from starters to 3rd string with really no in between. Maybe a couple of their younger guys who look like 3rd string quality guys step up and become credible playoff rotation players (and none of their starters such as Porter get injured) but it's far from a sure thing.

Boston, Mil, Phoenix and perhaps LAL look to be at their level for next year (all of them have some ifs that need to pan out but so does Denver) with several more teams having an outside chance as well.

the Nuggets are awfully proud of sweeping a team that was together for only a few months…

no chance that happens again, Lakers in 6 this time around.

The Bucks seem like a better team to me.

Jokic is all world, best player in the NBA.

That said, I need to see Murray play lights out again in order to figure out what I would place him in the top 20.

I still dont see Lakers hype, sure they got good after Westtbrick, Reaves looks good, but LeBron will literally be same age as Homer Simpson next season. AD is injury prone, and they still have D"Angelo... How is that a great team?

Imo Boston can be great IF Porzingis experiment works. Milwauke maybe could make a last dance. PHO is a weird team, not a big believer but cant deny talent at the top there.

They definitely have the best top 4 by far, and the best duo as well. But MPJ is injury-prone, so you never know, and they are not very deep, in fact not deep at all, so that leaves other good teams with a chance.

I only see the Suns as a realistic threat to them in the west. East is a different story, mostly depending on where Dame goes.

Yeah about half a dozen teams and good fortune. Definitely the favorite. Will be amazing Nugs season coming.

It's styles-makes-fights in the NBA now. Meaning, it's all about match-ups and as a precursor, full health. Denver doesn't have the bench to repeat and is one injury away from not even making the playoffs, even if they have Jokic healthy.

I’m high on them too given the coaching switch. I think they’ll be refreshed and be more robust in the playoffs.
