Think its pretty simple now. If OKC gets the 1 seed, I truly believe they’ll give it to SGA. If Denver gets it they’ll give it to Jokic. If neither get the 1 seed I think they’ll probably give it to Jokic. With Murray essentially being load managed now until the playoffs that could help Jokic’s stats but I wonder does this all but mean Denver could care less about the 1 seed.

Why would there be another poll with only 8 games left? Do they always do one this late?

giannis has absolutely no chance. I mean 0. Luka, a long shot but if somehow den and okc lose 5 of next 8 and dal keeps winning he can maybe steal it, otherwise no.

Yeah he's certainly endangering it with two losses in a row. Nuggets could easily be the 3rd seed now

Mavs not far from the 4 seed................if theres only 1 seed separating Jokic and Luka you could easily say Luka should be Mvp

SGA has been out, Jokic has been the best player all year. I think even though we all have terrible recency bias voters won’t be as bad.

Imo Mavs need to end up a top 4 seed for Luka to have a shot.

I think the Mavs have to at least be within 5 games of the Nuggets and Thunder

Like I said before Thunder are stacked even without SGA, Nuggets 2nd best player keeps missing games.

I’m pretty sure if you take SGA out the Thunder are the youngest team in the league. Really more of a reason Mark deserves COTY imo.

In fairness, the Nuggets and Thunder have been very lucky with injuries this year relative to other teams. Murray is basically the only starter who has missed any significant time

Nah they don't, especially with the injuries Mavs have suffered during the season + the quality of roster they had before the trades comparing to OKC and Denver

So OKC destroying Suns without SGA....not so great for his MVP credentials then.

Jokic is my pick for MVP and I don't think anything short of the Nuggets losing basically every game down the stretch will change that. He's been incredible all season and hasn't missed a significant number of games. I do think SGA is right behind him and if OKC had been able to create a little more separation in the standings that SGA would have gotten it.

If both the Nuggets and the Thunder falter down the stretch then Luka has a shot but that feels like a very long shot. The year Dallas can figure out a team around Luka that can stay in the top 3 is the year he wins MVP.

This is the classic dumb overthinking that happens at the end of every year. It's still comfortably Jokic.

Well, MVP is not about the most wins, it's about being the most valuable player to their team.
And going by what you're saying, you're actually enforcing Luka's MVP case
