Is Jimmy Butler a HOFer?

Post#1 » by ScrantonBulls » Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:08 am

6x all-star, 1x all NBA 2nd team, 4x all NBA 3rd team, 5x all-defensive second team. Not the most robust resume. What I think really pushes him over are his two finals runs. The guy put up some clutch, amazing performances.

What do you think? I say yes.

Easily. His 20, 22 and 23 runs are a more impressive carry job than anything alot of other HoF's like Pippen or Kobe ever did.

Quite clearly, yes.

Some Bucks/Celtics/Knicks fans all voted no it appears

Edit: Minnesota too.

I think Butler has a case for most polarizing non mega star ever. Bulls, Heat, Philly fans for the most part ALL love and adore him but Minnesota, Milwaukee, Boston and New York fans all hate his guts. Then you have the Lebron fans due to their various matchups.

If they shoved TMac in there almost immediately, Jimmy's a first ballot. Five all league teams seems to be the bar.

Obviously.

He's an Eastern Conference playoffs legend.

When the games really matter.

38/6/5 on 67% TS to take out the #1 seed in 5 games. Legendary ish.

The cat got out of this bag a long time ago. The HoF has lost its meaning. The "well so and so who deserves it even less is already in" argument is the proverbial throwing good money after bad.

guess whose accolades these belong to?

5× NBA All-Star
3× All-NBA Third Team

18 pt Per game career average.. 20 pts playoffs career

2nd ballot hall of famer...

BUT is part of the NBA 75 best players... no other than Reggie Miller...

Jimmy had similar averages in Pts ( 18 PPG regular season and 21 PPG during the playoffs). and more accolades especially on the defensive end.

yes, he should get in.

He's a lock. He's one of 20 players with 5x all star/5x all nba/5x all defense.

All 20 are going to be in the HoF, including active and recently retired (Dwight, CP, Kawhi, Giannis).

AD will be the 21st once he makes his 5th All NBA and 5th All Defensive team after this season.

Reggie also has an Olympic gold, a FIBA gold and had a pretty spectacular college career for UCLA. There's a bit more to his basketball career than just his NBA accolades.

That said, Butler will get in.

Not only should he be HOF, I think you can argue he should be on the top 75(76) list.

The bar to be a hall of famer isn’t very high. 5 All-NBA teams and a bunch of impressive playoff runs is enough to get him in

For sure, has the stats, individual accolades, and has had some playoff success.

There's probably ~30 players with peaks comparable or higher than jimmy all time. Playoff jimmy is on another level.

Jimmy will probably make it, but lets not pretend Miller's entire career isn't good. He made all PAC 12 twice, won the PAC 12 championship, and earned the tourney MVP in college. One season he averaged 26 pts on good shooting. Butlers college years were ok, but not great like Miller's.
