Been up and down all year, but coming home very strong.

What a nightmare team to catch in the playoffs. West is ridiculous.

I think Gafford is actually very good. I agree with you as far as everything else you mentioned. The Mavs will get up signing some guys for more than they're worth.

That or Cuban lowballs like he did with Brunson, and loses them for nothing

They didn't lowball Powell though.

Mavs roster is talented now. In the west they can beat any team expect Denver IMO.

They can definitely beat Denver especially with two PO monsters like Kyrie and Luka.

I think Lively would still start hadn t he suffered that nose injury that kept him out for a few weeks. The mavs started rolling in his absence and that is why they kept Gafford in the S5. The change recently is that we constantly see 40+ mins of Gafford/Lively every game. Glad that the Mavs are not going small ball that much anymore.

Yeah the great news is that it doesn't really matter which one of the two starts, they split minutes evenly and it means we're seeing 40+ min a game of having a legit defender and rim protector out there. Then it just comes down to small matchup nuances who has the better game each game.
And Dwight Powell is now what he should be, the human victory cigar.

Can get 33/1 for Dallas to win the title. That's a good bet in my book.

This is a team that could beat anyone in a 7 game series if they get hot.

Could be Luka himself. I remember after the first game he played with Gafford Luka said in the postgame that "this is the backup center I've been waiting for for years"

If it wasn't for the broken nose Lively would have likely held on to the starting gig but Gafford has been playing so well recently after that baffling stretch where Kidd was playing a lot of Maxi at the 5 so they're just rolling with it

Sabonis was limited to 12/11/9a/4to at 3/10 shooting, thanks also to Lively II. PJ also very impressive with 3s going in.

People like to trash the Mavs-Charlotte trade and how much Dallas had to overpay for PJ (which they did), but its worked out exceptionally well for them so far. PJ has been a lockdown defender and if that 3 pointer becomes more reliable on a nightly basis, I think Dallas can hang with anyone in the postseason

PJ is a surprisingly good and versatile defender with the right attitude. If he can get back to his average 36% 3s and improve to ~40% next season factoring in how wide open they are and the more competent roster

They probably could beat anyone in a series. But I'm doubtful they can beat 4 straight anyones.

It’s been pretty much their biggest issue the whole time along with adequate wing players. Can’t do much when u have Powell or Kleber as the anchor. PJ & Gafford has size.

I reckon Drummond as a backup C next year would be great

Mavs need a starting caliber 3 instead of backup C in Drummond. They have great young C in Lively II and insurance Dwight Powell.

If they only could've moved up in the 2020 draft. I wanted them to draft Devin Vassell so badly. He went a few spots ahead of Josh Green

Green was not a bust, but why move up when behind still had Tyrese Maxey, Immanuel Quickley, Jaden McDaniels, and Desmond Bane...

They've figured out their lineups for the most part, it seems.

Luka
Kyrie
Jones
Washington
Gafford

Exum
Green (injured)
Hardaway
Kleber
Lively

Swapping in Jones and Gafford for Green and Lively to the starting lineup definitely seems to have helped.
** Embiid is the only MVP in NBA history to never make a conference final
** Philly won multiple playoff games without MVP Embiid
** Luka made the playoffs without Brunson
** LeBron missed the playoffs with Davis
** Steph missed the playoffs with Klay

They have PJ and Gafford so now the 3 spot can be used on a Herb Jones type as Irving/Luka take the brunt of responsibility on offence

Someone said it before. Kleber/Powell both suck at gobbling rebounds and second chance opportunities

Think more Tyson Chandler, Tristan Thompson

Josh Green is too small to be a 3, DJJ has been okay

But starting caliber 3 won’t be an easy get especially with overpay contracts but they do have THJ expiring next year.
