Not to intend to troll American board, but when I see guy like Cooper Flag, I wonder how good American system is for those generational talents. What I mean, Cooper Flagg has no business of playing against high schoolers at this point, if he was Euro, he would probably already be getting Euroleague minutes, and IMO, it would also help his development, right? Instead I see headlines of Cooper Flagg having 50 point triple doubles in highschool competitions.

At least At Montverde, he's playing with a bunch of other likely 1st round picks, and they play a national schedule.UcanUwill wrote:Not to intend to troll American board, but when I see guy like Cooper Flag, I wonder how good American system is for those generational talents. Did he really have a 50 point triple double in a regulation high school game? If so, that's pretty awesome.
But yeah, the Euro system definitely seems better for the youngest, most talented guys.

Looks like a mixture of Andrei Kirilenko & Gordon Hayward. Either way, he's destined to be on the Utah Jazz @ some point

Whatever team he was on and league he was in I can guarantee you it was better for his development that G-League ignite would be.
To answer your question yes, it would be better for his development to be able to play in a professional system with other professionals. However there's a lot of problems with that in NBA basketball. It's a long discussion but the best way to put it is that it's the same reasons that none of the European players signed with an NBA team before they were draft eligible. They may have been in a professional league, but it wasn't the NBA. To play for the NBA they were too young.

Re: Cooper Flagg wins Gatorade POY
The wild thing is he was a sophomore last season and skipped a year. He'll be 17 next year at Duke. If his birthday was 10 days later, he wouldn't be eligible to be drafted in 2025. I hope he can handle the hype at such a young age.scrabbarista wrote:UcanUwill wrote:Not to intend to troll American board, but when I see guy like Cooper Flag, I wonder how good American system is for those generational talents. How’s his jump shot? It looks fine in the highlight videos, but it’s hard to telling without knowing the percentages.
No doubt he is a special athlete.

Very good shooter off the catch, needs to improve with a contest and from deeper ranges. Coopers weaknesses are dribbling left hand and high end shot creation right now.

To clear things up a little. The big time stat headlines that Cooper was getting in the summer was during AAU when he was playing in AAU tournaments.
The high school Flagg plays for is a little different. Flagg plays at Montverde which is pretty much the best it gets when it comes to development at the high school level. He’s also played against the majority of the top high school prospects and top high school teams.
Ya of course it’s not on the level of playing pros over seas. Just saying Montverde is as top tier as it gets when it comes to high school. “Schools” like Montverde are 100% focused on sports development.

Another player the Pistons will miss out on landing the 5th pick again.
Kinda cool watching all the top tier talent pass the Pistons by, time after time.
