3 weeks ago Monday I had my rec center basketball semi finals

We had two guys who play in the state league(one up from the NBL) . Since Monday's they don't practice they were able to get clearance to play in a local rec league. Prize money was 2k. All our league fees are cleared. We finished second. We know we could beat the leagues top team

They turn up, 9 players. Which is odd for a rec team. We usually run with 7 at most

5 SBL players, including a dude who has scored 57 in the rec league last year. We lost by 14. We were proud, down by 25 at the half. Clawed back. 73-87


They won the GF by 50. Against the top team. Who had no SBL players and a dude missed apparently because he got 2 techs, ejected and couldn't play the GF

So I look at the blazers. I see One player who is a genuine NBA starter, a young raw prospect. 3 dudes who might still be playing next season. Guys trying to show something to earn another go next year, maybe wanting to show other teams he could be a prospect. Worth a mininum

Against two all stars and a bench+players fighting hard because they are gearing up for finals. Wanting to show Spo they can make shots. Get stops and be a part of a Miami push.

You tell me why Miami won by 60?


Also I **** love Reath. He's my boy. I remember seeing his lanky unco ass turn up in a run not really knowing how to play, but just faster then everyone. At 6'9" dunking on dudes if he didn't trip up on his own feet, struggling to catch a ball then being told by one of the sudan boys "*my boy is 15 and took up basketball 3 weeks ago because he grew like half a meter in 3 months*

You tell me he's playing 20 minutes a game in the NBA I would of bet everything I had against it. He's done ok. It's not a skill thing but his abilitys would translate to Europe a lot better. But I'm glad he's getting to realize a dream he worked hard for. Just it's a baptism of fire.

Why do we have to keep repeating this? Portland has the worst owner in North American sports and nobody talks about it. All she wants to do is bank and then sell. Winning has NOTHING to do with Portland until Paul Allen's will is executed and she sells the team. All rookie lineups have happened a handful of times in 50 years and Portland has done it 5 games in row or some nonsense. The OPs question itself is ignorant AF.

Not really a surprise. They are basically doing the same thing the Spurs are except instead of Wemby(one of the best rookies of the last 30 years) they have Scoot(one of the worst pg rookies of the last 30 years). Not that Scoot is a bust but you have to expect a lot of these 40+ pt blowouts like they've had this year.
