For anyone to average 3.6 BPG, in this day and age no less with the game being a lot more perimeter based, is extremely impressive.

Yep. And just for context, Victor's BLK% is at 10.0 for the season. BLK% is an estimate of the percentage of opponent two-point field goal attempts blocked by the player while he was on the floor. That number dwarfs the numbers for even peak Robinson (7.4), Hakeem (7.0), Mutombo (8.8, next best 7.5), Eaton (9.2) and whoever you can think of. The only one I could see who had an even higher BLK% than Victor was Manute Bol who peaked at 10.8. Note that Victor since starting Center (52 Games) has a BLK% of 10.7, virtually tying Bol in that category.

To be fair, it bears mentioning that Victor indeed blocks some 3s – more than Centers of the past – and benefits a bit from that when calculating his BLK%. But that's most likely not closing the gap that exists between him and some other prolific shot blockers from the past (maybe that one Mutombo season and peak Eaton would end up being fairly close at least compared to full-season Victor).

On a related note, nobody should be surprised to see Victor's block numbers and percentages go mostly down from here. It's certainly possible that he'll improve a bit but as teams become even more afraid of challenging him at the rim, his block numbers are likely to become less impressive while his rim protection impact increases. That's the case for a lot of prolific shot blockers. (Most shot blockers also become more selective in terms of when to go for blocks and when to stay away or contest without trying to block the shot but I feel like Victor is already not chasing blocks, his foul rate is already very low for a Rookie Center and he already gets a lot of his blocks without jumping high or even at all, so I don't expect him to have to adjust nearly as much as others in that regard).

It’s not even the best rookie season in his franchise’s history. That would be David Robinson (a 24-year old Robinson, but still) Fun fact, guess who averaged more blocks their rookie year?

That was one of the best rookie seasons ever though.
I don't see how it being the same franchise diminishes what Wemby is doing.
