Lakers have 2 of the top 3 in the series and there is a huge dropoff from the top 3 (Bron, AD, Tatum) to Brown. If he does show up though then it’ll be a closer series but imo starpower of Lakers will be too much for the Celtics. Playoffs is still a star-driven game. Last 20 years i can only remember 04 Pistons and 11 Mavs winning with a well-balanced team.
Why would the Celtics make Jaylen the the highest paid player in the league to end up being their distant 4th best player during the playoffs? I disagree and think he is their 2nd best player in terms of being able to change the outcome of the game based on his skillset like Tatum. However, his consistency is somewhat of a concern as of late alas AD of last season, who also got paid in the offseason and was never the Lakers distant 4th best player in any series last year.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/jaylen-brown-agrees-to-largest-contract-in-nba-history-with-celtics-five-years-304-million

Read up again I said 4th best player in the series not 4th best player on the Celtics. Big difference

I did stated that according to you as their distant 4th best player in the playoffs for the Celtics which are broken down into series. You just misread it like you have on Jaylin impact during the playoffs. Name one series where he disappeared last season. He was consistent and impactful for most of the playoffs last year, which was the key reason why he was giving the largest contract in NBA history during the off-season. If he didn't show up in clutch games, they would have low balled or traded him instead of giving them their bag like the Sixers did to Harden.

Playoffs games dictates size of contract over regular season games for smart teams building a championship. Your argument is unjustified.

Miami either losses to Chicago in the 8th place game, or they bounce Boston in round 1.

Need to see first round matchups to do full predictions but think Boston vs Denver finals (biggest barriers to this would be lakers, timberwolves, healthy suns, healthy clippers, healthy 76ers, or knicks)

Wolves in the worst possible match up out of all the teams since they cannot stop perimeter scoring from the wing and key which are the Suns strength using their 3 headed monster. Not too many 3 headed monster (Superstars with max or supermax contracts) teams these days.

The most likely upset series in the first round and it won't even be close.

Originally I was going to pick the Thunder in the finals. I really think the Clippers if they have Kawhi and play to their potential could take the same road as the Mavs, but I think the Mavs or Clips vs the Thunder is a toss up....and if the Thunder win I think they could go to the finals. I think any of those teams (or Denver) could take the Celtics to 7 or possibly win.

If Kawhi is healthy, I might lean Clippers slightly, which may sound odd considering it's the first round series and I have the Mavs in the finals, but if he stayed healthy I could see them doing the same thing. That series is a toss up as well as the winner vs the Thunder. The Nuggets don't feel like they quite have it this season. The Suns might have a good chance of beating them. They already beat them twice in Denver this season, once without Booker. And they had their # in the playoffs a few years back. Last year they didn't but the Suns made a huge trade and Chris Paul was washed so it was basically just KD and Book against them and Ayton never had time to really adjust to playing with KD.

You are all over the place with so many possibilities which can happen but this is a prediction thread, not possible match-up and results scenarios.

Anyways, my 4 play-in teams reaching the playoffs as predicted came true. My only surprise was LAL not purposely losing to the Pelicans to win Friday"s game for the 8th seed to face OKC in the 1st round. I know that was EXACTLY what the Pelicans did when they replaced BI for the entire 4th quarter with Daniels (That's like replacing Lebron with Hood-Schifino) just so they can face OKC in the playoffs. Lakers are idiots for playing AD for the entire game as he hurt his hip near the end. Now Ham needs to bench either Dlo or AR for Gabe cause he can do a much better job against Jamal like he did against him in the Finals last year for the Heat, otherwise it's another sweep. Book it.

Based on the flip flop seeding for NO and LAL, I need to revised the match up for round one...
8 Pelicans over 1 Thunder, 4-3
2 Nuggets over 7 Lakers, 4-1

https://youtube.com/shorts/Mm51c6pa96E?si=cOwmiY1RBf_youU_

Lakers just doesn't match up well against the defensive lengthy Nuggets, not too many teams can.
