I mean lol. Let Dallas go through a playoff series first. And they can't offer much. And Klay has kept talking like he wants money money money. Like usual this is an agent knowing Dallas is an aggressive team in a big market trying desperately to create some buzz around a very declined client.

Chances of Klay as a Mav next year? 1/3 of one percent maybe?

Klay at this point in his career is pretty similar to THJ who they already have on the roster.

Kyrie, Klay, Doncic, PJ, Gafford

Shooting and rebounding.. I don't hate it.. defense will be sub 20th.

He turned down 2 years 48 million from Golden State a year ago, which was a mistake but all the Mavs can offer would be MLE unless they can do a sign and trade. Maybe Golden State would want THJ and Josh Green.

That's an odd projection considering the actual team starting both Kyrie and Luka has been the best defense in the entire league since the trades. Doubt Klay could be anywhere near that big of a drag.

Guess news travels slow that Dallas is a good defensive team. Which is understandable. This is a franchise that has historically always been offensive-focused. But they are big and they really defend now.

Mavs have had the best defense in the League since we got Gafford and Washington. Klay would come off the bench he would not make our defense just god awful. He would come in to hit 3s. If he can replace THJ that's an upgrade because THJ plays no defense.

apron makes that very difficult for Dallas. And would just be a terrible mistake. As frustrating as those two guys are, Klay isn't a real upgrade and now you've lost depth. Much better directions for Dallas to go than to chase a name.

I'm not sure I understand, Tim Hardway Jr. makes about 18 million a year, let's say Golden State does a sign and trade Klay for Hardaway and signs Klay for 18 million a year how would that effect our apron? I don't think Golden State would really take that offer but just for example.

ZERO reason the Mavs would send that for Klay.

THJ is a negative and Green has been slightly better than a bust. They're not some great players.

THJ is 35% from 3 and is basically a 3 point specialist. He doesn't do anything else good he's 40% from the field not a good defender, not a high IQ player. Klay is an offensive upgrade. Green just doesn't have it between the ears. He's just a hustle guy.

Green was injured for a lot of our run we just had where we won 16 of 18 games, he wasn't needed at all.

Low hanging fruit. This would not be a wise decision.

I can see it. Cuban is the type of owner who overpays for a name and honestly the Mavs go all in with space - now with the competent core of C's and F's, this is a good idea for them.

The question is the #'s, and how it affects the tax apron for the Mavs

I'd rather the Mavs get a younger wing who can play defense. But if all else fails I wouldn't be terribly upset with Klay.

Cuban's not in charge anymore, he's minority owner and the GM Nico is in charge of trades and free agency. Almost immediately after that happened they started winning, got Gafford and Washington.

Cuban is the type of owner who tries to overpay for names but players don't take the offers.

Brown is not a free agent, Monk is not a good defender.

Unless it's a trade Mavs can only afford MLE.

Fair point. This iteration though.... Luka may sway a player to their side.

Also DeAndre Jordan is with Denver this time, not in LA to trap Blake Griffin in his house

The defensive slide going from DJJ to Klay is massive though. Hasn't he become the team's primary defender on the best perimeter guys?
