They won't get back anywhere near the draft capital back they gave up for him, so with their limited flexibility they are kind of all in with this core, at least for the 24-25 season. Durant and Nurkic are both on expiring deals in 25-26 so they may have a few more options for a deal then as KD will be 37 so might be a hired gun on a $55M expiring deal.

he should. Pistons, Celtics and Heat all make a lot of sense. Pistons because they can easily absorb his contract and they've got some young talent and draft picks. Pistons would be desperate to make this happen but there's little chance KD would approve this move. Heat would be somewhere he'd probably love to go to and he'd make them the favorites if they could get him without giving up either Butler or Bam. But the problem is they don't have much else to offer in the way of young guys and draft picks. The Celtics might make the most sense but only if they fall short again. If they fall short, I doubt they're looking forward to paying Brown's salary when it kicks in. KD would be an upgrade and only on the hook for a couple of seasons or they could extend him to end his career. The Suns would gladly take Brown and his salary because then they wouldn't have to rebuild as Brown would compliment Booker and be on the same timeline so to speak.

Knicks include 6 first round picks, or something like that.

Does it get it done? I don't know. A lot of the Knicks picks are protected and unlikely to be lottery.

Does NY do it? . . . again, maybe, but Durant is 35 and tends to miss a lot of games and Randle is physically tougher.

I'd give this one about a 1% chance of happening, but I don't hate it. I'm not sure I love it and I don't like NY getting older, but it would be fun to have even a 35 year old KD joining my Knicks.

Really pretty crazy what Presti can do in OKC before Chet and Jalen come off rookie deals.

A KD reunion makes sense on paper. Unlike trading for a younger star, a chance KD accepts less contract in a year to play for chips. Retire a Thunder.

I don't know if the trio will work or not. But after so many major roster changes, you have to give some time to develop chemistry and make some additional lineup and roster adjustments. Especially with Beal's injury and lack of availability and playing in a tough conference.
