Was it Steph's fault for not performing in the clutch?

Is it really hard for basketball fans to understand it's a team game? GSW had several problems but it definitely wasn't Curry in the clutch.
Yeah making the playoffs is irrelevant. Being a mediocre teams means you are more likely to be in a close game in the 4th thus able to meet the criteria. Boston on the otherhand would hardly have anyone eligible due to their domination.

How does that change the fact that Steph has been the most clutch player? The fact he's done it over a larger sample size goes to show his consistency. Plus, Steph leads in the per possession stats too, not just raw totals. Again, your criticisms are about the award not actually why Steph doesn't deserve it. Funny how no one complained when Fox (deservedly) won it last year

Agreed, never really liked the format for this award. But well, it exists and adds to my goat's legacy so I won't complain

Also has the highest TS% difference between him and his teammates compared to any of the other CPOTY candidates this year (his team shooting poorly is why they lose games in the clutch). Demar's teammates actually shot better than him in the clutch. Seeding shouldn't matter, this isn't an MVP award. It's about who showed up the best in the clutch and it was Stephen Curry.

Not saying that he doesn't deserve it, but most of the statistics you mention doesn't really prove it in my opinion.
For a player to be "clutch" he doesn't need to have a lot of total points/better than his teammates/better than league avg/better than other candidates in the minutes defined as "clutch". It could help, yes. But mostly what I'm looking for when thinking about "clutch" is a player than is better than his usual self in those moments compared to any other player in the league.
And it should mainly depend on what his team is doing in this moments, as if some player just scores a lot but gives easy baskets on defense (more than his usual) - not sure he is a "clutch" - because his team will lose more than others.

I don't get wym by it doesn't prove it tbh. He leads in every clutch category (points, efficiency and also creates a lot of looks with his great ball-handling and gravity in those moments). I respect your definition of clutch but I don't see how it won't apply to Curry because half the times, he's been subpar in the first three quarters this season (deserves to be criticized for it rightfully) and usually turns it up in the clutch. So he's technically "rising" in the clutch more than other players too. Also I don't remember his defense being bad in the clutch, it was bad this season but I don't particularly remember it being an issue in the clutch. Also, his bad record is cause of how abysmal everyone else usually is in the clutch and the team is genuinely pathetic, only Dray offers something on the defensive side of things in those moments

I did not say something against Curry at all. Just about the kind of stats needed to convince me a player is a clutch per how I personally define it.
If you have more "Posts" than "And1", don't feel bad if I didn't reply to you - I just don't like to speak with people who argue a lot

Earned the only real accolades, didn't give him enough of the more sought after made up awards, and now are hanging more of the garbage ones on him to increase their value by association.

Nah, Luka could have done it among various others. Steph just doesn't have that much gravity on his own.

Curry led them to 46 wins, which is respectable. Only 4 games behind the Mavs, who have a much better roster around Luka this season. Last year when Luka only had 38 wins. But if mid-20s Luka (and probable 3rd in MVP) is the bar for comparison for a mid-30s Curry, then I think Curry is doing just fine.

He's not the comparison, it's just pointing out that there are numerous players who would have had more success with that supporting cast. Curry has never been an elite floor raiser.

You have me curious now. Take Curry off that team. What do you think their record is?

You can't have to many when you're blowing out teams.

You can't have either when you're not making the play-offs :D

I mean it's 0. I believe he was 0-10 on these attempts, so I guess 0 is enough for 4 rings. You are technically right

I'm 2 clips in and it has him hitting shots with 5 minutes left in the game. What are we doin here

Edit - Bro it has him hitting a shot down 6 with 4 sec left in the game  15 minutes of clutch does sound legit tho

This is exactly what you said

I counted around 70, kinda lost count, but that's only up to 2019

You wasted time counting. There are 0 game winners

Stephen Curry is now 0-12 in his playoff career on potential go-ahead shots in the final 45 seconds of the 4th quarter or overtime.

I love the "gotcha" moment requoting me. I know what I said. I said game winners. Still 0
