If you're LeBron... Where do you go to win

Which team would you choose being a unrestricted free agent this upcoming season?

Let's keep this on topic and hear some good opinions

I believe he should close out his career in Miami
Spo and LeBron can reunite and try winning together again

Lebron's wife hated Miami. It's not happening. He's retiring in LA. His business interests are centered in LA. Either the Lakers trade their assets this offseason to give him another chance at a title or they coast on his brand thru a retirement tour which would also be a huge disservice to AD. Lebron is not leaving LA and has already made it clear he wants to retire a Laker. He's certainly not signing a vet min to ring chase.

He really doesn't have a shot at another ring even if it Lakers trade all their mid assets. But it can keep some of you eating up the content another year or 2 I guess

He could take the minimum somewhere to ring chase, but it wouldn't be a good look and probably be more of a negative on his legacy than anything. Maybe if he re-signs in LA for the minimum, and they have enough cap space to sign a couple more guys, they might be able to seriously compete next season. That said, I think if he gets swept by Denver again it'll give him a great out to leave and go wherever Bronny ends up. And maybe if that ends up being a really good team, him signing there for the minimum wouldn't be looked at as negatively as it would be if he was just pure ring chasing.

OKC

Would fit right in to that team

SGA, Dort, Jalen, LeBron, Chet

Cason, Joe, Giddey, Kenrich, backup C

Nowhere. He's 39. It's ok for him to play out the string in LA, where he wants to live, and ride into the sunset.

Go to whichever team that willing to sign his son and proceed with drama ending career tour while dragging his son along for the nepotism.

James is still playing like a TOP15 player and has a TOP10 teammate already (AD) while Reaves is a perfect starter for a winning team according to his team-friendly contract and two-way value on the court. What the Lakers need is a better coach and not an All-Star but a true TOP50 player (which Russel is not) and one defensive specialist. When the Lakers won the ring last time they had a bunch of defensively useful players around LBJ-AD (KCP, Caruso, Danny Green, Howard, McGee, Rondo), and their bench was PPG #11 in the league, not #28 like in the current regular season.

So 2024-25 fixed LA Lakers can be the winning option, but in 2025-26 AD turning into supermax will be harder unless James gives up from the max contract playing just for the ring.

The other option is "Legacy" scenarios which I think include a comeback in the East in Cleveland or even Miami, and these teams have Mobley and Herro with trade value to get more useful pieces adopted to LBJ's new presence.

Warriors. He can invite KD to join him. They can ruin the NBA one last time before retiring.

Wherever KD is, he should go.

Philly. Come join Embiid and Maxey. He's gotta be better than Tobias

GSW.

With Curry and CP3, one last hurrah, try to get CP3 a ring, with all of them riding off into the sunset whether they get it or not. It would then mark the end of an era. It's probably the one semi-realistic shot at a ring that people won't complain about either or tarnish his legacy.

Why. Makes some sense.

Especially if PHI drafts Bronny. LeBron signs, too. And maybe PHI trades Maxey for KD.

It is possible to build around LeBron and Davis but Pelinka isn't the guy to do it..

The coach hire and talent acquisition has been bad. Drafting and stars coming to LA have been the strength of Lakers.

Huh? It’s consistent to his super team in Miami era so another ring chase won’t hurt his legacy at all (2nd GOAT is not half-bad).
