Timberwolves Apology Thread

Post#1 » by ryguy613 » Tue May 7, 2024 5:15 am

Cant speak for anyone but myself, but I certainly owe the TWolves an apology. Ive been saying all season that this team was giving me 1 seed Gobert Jazz vibes, a great regular season team that wasnt a serious contender, and I admit that I was dead wrong. This team is scary. They're big, strong, athletic, fast, great defensively, can shoot, and they hustle. Huge credit to that FO, because i didnt see the method behind the madness when they made the Gobert trade, but damn if this team isnt scary...

We got ourselves a J Cole fan here folks lol

I thought they'd be a damn good team but no way I expected them to dummy the Nuggets. Their defense at this level + Edwards making the superstar jump already is crazy.

By the way, this is not a bitter laker fan, enemy of my enemy is my friend thing. Much as I cant stand Malone, I respect the Nuggets. Was lowkey rooting for them from here on out, since i figured they were the only team that could take down the Celtics. Just impressive stuff by this TWolves team. 2 games to start the series in Denver's house? Didnt see it coming...

I think the Wolves have caught many of us by surprise.

Same. Thought the Gobert trade was laughable. But they're the ones laughing now.

They are huge, physical, and have the best defense in the NBA

Vets have calmed them down (young team with immaturity).

I called in the Gobert thread they'd be fine while most of the thread clowned on them.. just like how these grand proclamations and overreactions and agendas happen on this board after one or two losses from specific teams... no wonder so many people are aggressively wrong all the time, no patience lol

Someone bring up the Gobert trade thread. I think I was one of the very few who actually liked it

*SOUL beat me to it by a few seconds

My post at the time

I’m obviously in the very small minority that don’t mind this for the Wolves. I think it’s an overpay, but Rudy is a game changer on defense.

The Wolves at least have some competent wing defenders rather than the turnstiles that were Mitchell, Bogdanovic, Clarkson. They should be be a top 5 defensive team and have enough firepower to be a good team.

The fit is the big question mark, but I’m 100% in on Rudy.

How about a Suns Apology Thread?

Maybe the Suns weren’t so bad for getting swept by Minnesota?

Looking good, but job is far from done. They did establish themselves as contenders, and its a huge win to Timberwolves tho.

The wolves looked scary too me since the warriors dynasty but they just never put it together.
Imo if they win it will move the nba further from small ball and towards tall athletic guys who are skilled at everything and can defend. Started already with the nuggets last year and even the bucks. Warriors 22 was an anomaly

Yeah, I confess I didn't think this build would really work either. I thought they'd be a playoff team but that their perimeter defense would suffer too badly with both Gobert and Towns on the court together. Also didn't know how Gobert would fit offensively. Clearly Minnesota knew better.

Honestly as a Wolves fan it doesn't even bother me. The NBA did absolutely nothing to market these Wolves to a broader audience once the season started and things started to become very apparent. Their flawed TV deal meant they couldn't flex any games so the Wolves were only on national TV I think 3 or 4 times all year and two of those were the late game that nobody on the east coast was watching. Meanwhile the analysts spent their time all year talking about teams that either didn't make the playoffs in the west or are out in the first round. Really all most people had to go off was the word of T-Wolves fans and what do we know, we're T-Wolves fans.

I do feel bad for the greater NBA audience though. I've been watching basketball my whole and just from that perspective this team has been an absolute joy to watch all year long and most NBA fans missed out on it completely. Like seasons like this where it's just fun all year long and then ends up being even more fun in the playoffs are what fans beg for.
