Post#1 » by superLuigi21 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 4:55 pm

just curious if any of u guys have ever played against someone who played in the nba, or a well known college player? either in high school or pickup games? and if so how were they (amazing im sure). i played against tim thomas back when he was paterson catholics finest... guy was a BEAST.. thankfully i never had to guard him, cuz he was unguardable... we got crushed, as we alwasy did against PC... anyone else?

edit: also on that team was deshaun williams who was a starter at syracuse before getting kicked off the team either the year melo was a frosh or the year before that.. he was a human highlight reel

Mark Madsen may be a scrub in the NBA but he smoked my brother and his team in 3 on 3. I couldn't play since i was still rehabing my knee from having it scoped. NBA really does take it to a whole new level.

Not since they've been in the NBA, but when I was younger I played against KG, Maggette, Troy Hudson, Melo.

Probably some more too but those stand out the most.

2, neither were much in NBA but both were a whole different level from my ability.

First was a HS star (later U MD) I played in a pickup game out in Candy Cane City. Pure shooter, couldn't miss, had a snotty attitude but backed it up. Can't remember his name but he had a contract with Indiana and was a bottom of bench guy there; not sure he lasted a whole year.

Second was a guy named Mike Davis up in NY state (played a couple of years for the Bucks, nothing special again). 6-7, some serious hops . . . . Sucker blocked one of my shots from 20 feet away (no one calls goaltending in pickup games). Hopefully neither remember me, lol.

I played 3 on 3 against Jerrod Mustaff and his two buddies shortly after he got cut from his last NBA team. We beat their asses too.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to be a councellor at a Nike basketball camp called the Quincy Mack showtime academy. 2 of my fellow councellors played college ball at Rhode Island with Lamar Odom and they kept in touch with Lamar after he was drafted by the Clippers in 99.In 2003 when Lamar was a member of the Heat, Todd and Jeremy set up a 2 on 2 with Lamar at Toronto's Queen's Quay.Being only 6'0 I got paired up with Lamar and we beat Jeremy and Todd 11-7, with Lamar scoring 10 of those points..We went up 9-0 without me scoring once so Lamar purpolsely didn't score until I scored at least one bucket so gradually Jeremy and Todd came back to make it more interesting until I finally scored a deep 2 inside the arc at the top of the key...One of the more memorable moments in my life :)

I'm the reason Sebustian Telfail's career flopped. I broke his confidence by beating him 21 to Nil on draft night.

I played with Andrew Bynum a couple times before he got drafted. Actually a few times in middle school (he beat me in HORSE  ) and twice before he got drafted. He sucked major booty in middle school and wasn't doing anything but shooting 3's before he got drafted.

He's from my small town btw. VERY small town.

Only by one degree off. A buddy of mine used to play against Nash a lot in HS, and, as my buddy was his team's best player, he would get the unenviable assignment of guarding Nash.

He said it was....er...un-fun. He would 'hold' Nash to 30 or whatever, and people would think he'd done a good job.

I have played baseball against MLB players, and football against NFL players, but to the best of my recollection, this is the closest I've come to playing an NBA player.

Tim Thomas- only motivated when playing against players half the size of him.

I played against Geert Hammink 2 years ago.. We beat his team 73-70 with me hitting a far 3 with 2 sec left.. Also played against Jacque Vaughns brother if it's even worth mentioning. And I played bball with the entire New England Patriots team in 2001. Don't know any names, at the time I didn't even know who they we're until someone told me they were having a training camp @ the Boston College where I had a language camp..
