"NEW" ESPN Trade Machine - Predicts Record as well

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Fri Feb 8, 2008 11:32 pm

ESPN has developed a "NEW" Trade Machine that is more enhanced.

It tells you what your payroll is and how much you are over the salary cap.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/trades/trademachine

It predicts your winning percentage and record and tells you how much better your team is.

For instance I traded:

Ben Wallace and Ben Gordon to the Nets for Vince Carter and Jamal Magloire and this is what I got

Chicago Bulls
You have increased the winning percentage by 4.88%

Projected: W-35 L-47
After trade: W-39 L-43

--------------------------------------------------------------------

New Jersey Nets
You have not effected the winning percentage

Projected: W-29 L-53
After trade: W-29 L-53

So the Bulls increased by 4 wins with the new acquistion, while the Nets stayed the same.

Pretty cool.

cool i did smith and biedrens and this is what i got

Golden State Warriors
You have decreased the winning percentage by -4.88%

Projected: W-48 L-34
After trade: W-44 L-38

Atlanta Hawks
You have decreased the winning percentage by -19.51%

Projected: W-37 L-45
After trade: W-21 L-61

this would be good on the Trades and Transactions board

I don't get it. Something can't be right.

I traded Carlos Arroyo, Keith Bogans, and Pat Garrity for Corey Maggette and Aaron Williams and somehow I went down 4 wins and the Clippers all of a sudden get better.

This checker looks cool and all, but it's bugged. F.e.:

Dallas sends: Terry
receives: Miller

Orlando sends: Garrity and Arroyo
receives: Terry

Memphis sends: Miller
receives: Garrity and Arroyo

This Trade Succeeded!
----------------
Dallas Mavericks
You have decreased the winning percentage by -8.54%

Projected: W-54 L-28
After trade: W-47 L-35

So after trading away Terry with a better PER than Miller, that makes sense.
----------------
Orlando Magic
You have decreased the winning percentage by -9.76%

Projected: W-53 L-29
After trade: W-45 L-37

Switching Arroyo to Terry is an upgrade. Garrity has a negative PER btw. Makes no sense IMO, i guess MEM has to win the trade right?
----------------
Memphis Grizzlies
You have decreased the winning percentage by -70.73%

Projected: W-24 L-58
After trade: W--34 L-116

LOL! Memphis not only loses the trade, which would make sense, they manage to lose 32 wins and add 116 losses. Kinda funny, was my first try btw.

I traded Ron Artest for Tayshaun Prince straight up (a trade that the Pistons board has mulled over) and our projected record became 72-10.

That's a pretty cool feature, I'm assuming they determine this by PER?

A very nice Machine. ESPN has done it again. If the Rockets were to get mike miller, we could win 55 games. 18% increase in wins.

LMAO, I was fooling around and dealt LeBron+Hughes to Miami for J-Will/Blount/Haslem. Miami's % went up like 32, but Cleveland went down 56 to a projected 1-81.

 A Maceo Baston for Walter Herrmann trade increases Detroit's winning % by 15.85% to a projected record of 71-11 and Toronto's winning % by 13.41% to a projected record of 62-20

EDIT: Who knew that end of the bench players would have so much impact on a teams W/L column
