Step 1. Acquiring 3 truly great basketball players is the first step to contending (unless you can find 2 players that are top 5 talents in the league and have great chemistry)

lets look at some of the champs
Big 3's
(Kobe, Gasol, Ofdom)
(KG, Pierce, Allen)
(Duncan, Manu, Parker)
(MJ, Pippen, Rodman)
(Magic, Kareem, Worthy)
Big 2's
(Shaq + Kobe)
(Wade + Shaq)
(Jordan + Pippen)

Step 2: Then you need a 4th guy that can step up and some great role players to push you over the top
(Bynum)
(Rondo)

So these teams trying to get free agents over need to trade everything they can to get step 1 and 2 in place and have cap room.

Miami may want to trade Beasley and some other players to get a guy that is capable of being a big 3 type of guy.

Teams that set themselves up to have some great players and cap space will undoubtably get the free agent they want
Step 1: Get a
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
