Depth charts - Please help!

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Thu Aug 27, 2009 6:35 am

I'm trying to get some depth chart info for every team. Please help the cause! Using the format below would be appreciated, but not necessary.

Utah Jazz
---------------------
PG: Deron Williams (37), Ronnie Price(11)
SG: CJ Miles (24), Kyle Korver (24)
SF: Ronnie Brewer (32), Andrei Kirilenko (16)
PF: Paul Millsap(32), Andrei Kirilenko (16)
C: Mehmet Okur (34), Kosta Koufos (14)

Minor players
PG: Eric Maynor
SG:
SF: Matt Harpring (retiring?)
PF:Goran Suton (unsigned)
C: Kyrylo Fesenko, Jarron Collins (unsigned)

Question marks
Boozer? Unlikely to start season on team. Very unlikely to be on team past trade deadline.
Who will the Jazz get in a deal for Boozer? How will those minutes go?

Predictions
It seems most likely that a backup 4 or a starting 2 would be the targets for a Boozer trade. Richard Hamilton is a likely target. If he's acquired look for Miles/Korver's minutes to be killed.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I'd just be taking a guess. Of course there is the concern of Dunleavy, as we are unaware of a return date as of yet. Dahntay Jones or Brandon Rush would enter the starting lineup in the event that he is unavailable.

Indiana Pacers
---------------------
PG: TJ Ford (28), Earl Watson (20)
SG: Mike Dunleavy (28), Brandon Rush (20)
SF: Danny Granger (36), Dahntay Jones(12)
PF: Troy Murphy (30), Tyler Hansbrough (18)
C: Roy Hibbert (20), Jeff Foster (28)

Minor players
PG: Travis Diener
PG: AJ Price (if signed)
PF: Josh McRoberts
PF: Solomon Jones

Question marks
Dunleavy? Not sure of his determined return date, although reports indicate he might be ready sooner than expected.
Youngsters? Whether they can make strides in this upcoming season

Predictions
I doubt there will be much movement, unless a deadline situation would arise that could benefit us past this season. In such an event, expect Troy Murphy and Jeff Foster to be among the trade candidates.

SF: Nicolas Batum (20), Brandon Roy (22), Travis Outlaw (6)
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge (28), Travis Outlaw (20)
C: Greg Oden (33), LaMarcus Aldridge (9), Joel Przybilla (6)

I don't know about the minute distribution until we see whatever our next trade is (w/Buckner), but as of now, here is the was I see the Mavs

Dallas Mavericks
---------------------
PG: Kidd (32), Barea (16)
SG: Howard (12), Terry (36)
SF: Marion (24), Howard (24)
PF: Nowitzki (36), Marion (12)
C: Dampier (24), Gooden (24)

Minor players:

PG: Terry/Beaubois+ (spot minutes)
SG: Ross, Carroll*, Buckner*
SF: Singleton (if we clear room for him), Tim Thomas
PF: Humphries*, Williams*
C: Jawai*+

*Stong likelyhood of not being on the opening day roster
+I expect to get major minutes in the D-League

Question marks
All those with an " * " may be moved for a backup center.

Predictions
One consolidation trade. One center trade. One trade with Buckner leaving. Those all may be one in the same. Singleton signed.

this is really hard for the spurs. with so many new faces, there is really no telling who is going to be seeing minutes and where. but i will try and give it a shot.

san antonio spurs
---------------------
pg: tony parker (33), george hill(15)
sg: roger mason (24), manu ginobili (24)
sf: richard jefferson (33), michael finley (15)
pf: tim duncan(32), dejuan blair (16)
c: antonio mcdyess (24), matt bonner (14), mahinmi (10)

minor players
pg:
sg: malik hairston
sf: marcus williams
pf: marcus haislip
c: theo ratliff

question marks
front court rotation? no clue who will be getting minutes or where. its probably going to end up being a platoon situation unless/until someone steps up.
progress of hill? theres not a lot of pg minutes for hill, but that might actually be for the better. hes a natural sg who is still learning the point. id figure he sees some minutes at sg with the spurs going small for short stretches.

predictions
im banking on duncan, dice, and blair eating up around 70-75 minutes up front, leaving 21-26 minutes between bonner, mahinmi, haislip, and ratliff. hopefully two out of those four can eat up some effective minutes.
i also hope finley gets squeezed out of the rotation (in favor of more small ball/3 guard line-ups), but with pops man-crush still in full effect, it might not happen.
Stupidity Should be Painful!

I really don't think the minutes are going to go like that. And there's no way Aldridge plays center over Joel.

Miller (28)/Blake(20)
Roy(30)/Fernandez(18)
Batum(24)/Webster(10)/Fernandez(10)/Roy(4)
Aldridge(34)/Outlaw(12)
Oden(28)/Przybilla(20)

I see it going more like that for the start of the season. Martell and Rudy are going to have to battle it out for minutes I think, and Outlaw's role could see a pretty big reduction to full time backup pf if Martell is indeed healthy.

It's hard enough to predict part of the Heat's depth chart, let alone their minutes.....

C: O'neal (30), Anthony/Magloire (12), Haslem (6)
PF: Haslem (24), Beasley (24)
SF: Jones (24), Richardson (20), Beasley/Cook (4)
SG: Wade (38), Cook (10)
PG: Chalmers (38), Veteran FA PG (10)

Minor Players:
PG: Quinn
SG: Diawara
SF: Wright
F/C: A 1 year Veteran FA

Question Marks:
Will Beasley be able to come into this season with a more mature approach?
Will O'neal play 70+ games?
Can this squad show improvement from within as Pat Riley states it must?
Will a blockbuster deal to get Wade a star player go down by the trade deadline, or will Riley take his chances in the summer of 2010?
What will keep Wade happy?

Predictions:
FA veteran PG and FA veteran F/C signing.

pretty much set in stone for the lakers

los angeles lakers
---------------------
pg: derek fisher (24), jordan farmar (14), shannon brown (10)
sg: kobe bryant (34), sasha vujacic (14)
sf: ron artest (32), luke walton (16)
pf: pau gasol (16), lamar odom (32)
c: andrew bynum (32), pau gasol (16)

minor players
pg:
sg:
sf: adam morrison
pf: josh powell
c: dj mbenga

question marks
roster's pretty much set for the lakers

predictions:
none really, ammo will get playing time early in the season for the sole reason to raise his stock and market him as salvageable talent in return for a TPE.

ditto for farmar, hes probably much easier to move

josh powell and mbenga are in the rotation for when our bigs either get into foul trouble, get injured or its garbage time. majority of the regular season though, lakers seemingly like to coast their way through most games and allow teams to stay within striking distance, this usually means no garbage time for powell or mbenga.

brown also takes over the playing time from sasha if sasha is playing sh*t and PJ cant stand to watch any more bricks

every now and again, lamar becomes the PG for various matchup reasons and/or he's running the bench mob. heck even artest will at some stage of the season bring the ball up, give it to kobe and stay out of the way

long shot: PJ may again try the triple towers in pre-season, i highly doubt it. lamar's finally found his niche as a rebounding whore off the bench

Toronto
-----------

Calderon [32]/Jack [16]
Wright [16]/Belinelli [23]/Jack [9]
Turkoglu [34]/DeRozan [14]
Bosh [37]/Johnson [11]
Bargnani [33]/Rasho [10]/Johnson [5]

Minor Players
PG: Banks
SG:
SF: Graham
PF: Evans
C: Patty O'Bryant

Some think that Beli should start, though I think that he's much better suited for being a spark off the bench]. Others say that DeRozan should get the nod at starting, but I think he's far too raw and more suited to be a 3, at least now in his career. If he's good, he might get some spot minutes at the 2 later on in the season. I think Wright gives good defense in the starting five, and some slashing, thus he should get the starting 2 job if nothing changes in training camp.

I wouldn't be suprised if we threw Evans out every now and again to go grab us some balls though.

C: Nene (32) / Birdman (16)
PF: KMart (32) / Balkman (10) / Birdman (6)
SF: Melo (37) / Balkman (11)
SG: Afflalo (18) / JR (30)
PG: Billups (33) / Lawson (15)

Question marks
Ty Lawson vs. Anthony Carter. Obviously Lawson is the one that SHOULD be Billups backup PG... but like every1 knows... Karl and the whole Nuggets FO love AC. IN FACT, I wouldn't be surprised if Lawson does get his backup PG minutes, but Afflalo gets no minutes, and with JR starting, Carter is the one that actually backs him up at the 2.

Predictions
Even though Karl hinted last season that JR will start... unless the Nuggets add a capable scorer to the roster, we need an offensive spark off the bench in the worst possible way. Afflalo should be good to replace Dahntay Jones minutes, and JR should average around 30 off the bench in the Ginobili/Terry role. Here's hoping we get Novak though.

Milwaukee:
Pg. Brandon Jennings/Luke Ridnour/Charlie Bell/Roko Ukic
Sg. Michael Redd/Carlos Delfino/Jodie Meeks
Sf. Ersan Ilyasova/Joe Alexander/Walter Sharpe
Pf. Hakim Warrick/Luc Richard Mbah Moute/Kurt Thomas
C. Andrew Bogut/Fransico Elson/Dan Gadzuric

Minor Players:
Pg Roko Ukic
Sf Walter Sharpe
Pf Kurt Thomas
C Dan Gadzuric

Question marks:
Don't know who the starting PG/SF/PF's are yet. Don't know if Sessions will be on the team or not yet.

Predictions: Sessions won't be on the team, Walter Sharpe will be waived.

I love it how so many people are demoting Outlaw while the Blazers have added nobody that can take his minutes. Webster never has and never will take minutes from Outlaw. The only debatable issue is how Nate will divide about 26 minutes between Batum, Przybilla, and Webster. I think he will go with a 9-man rotation so 1 of those 3 is out. Any one of them could get as many as 20 or as few as 0 minutes. Przybilla has an edge because the Blazers are starved for size.

Philadelphia Sixers:

C:Samuel Dalembert(30)/M-16(10)/Elton Brand(5)
PF:Elton Brand(25)/Thad Young(15)/Jason Smith(5)
SF:Thaddeus Young(20)/Andre Iguodala(15)/Jason Kapono(10)
SG:Andre Iguodala(20)/Lou Williams(15)/Willie Green(10)
PG:Lou Williams(15)/Jrue Holiday(15)/Royal Ivey(10)

Questtions:

-For the record, I hate seeing Royal Ivey for 10+ minutes myself, hopefully Jrue can steal five of those.

-The question isn't "Can Lou handle the 1". It's whether he can control the turnovers(Miller averages 2.7 TPG for his career). But in the Princeton Offense, where the inital pass sets up everything, I see Lou Williams as an extra 2 guard out on the floor and he'll serve us more by scoring then putting up dimes.

-Can Thaddeus Young take it to the NEXT level? Averaging a solid 15/5 on 50% Shooting from the field! Thad's shown a desire to complete his game and when he does, he could help take the Sixers somewhere they haven't been since 2002. The Eastern Conference Semis(Baby steps)

-Can Iggy improve on his 3pt shot? He shot it more often in the 2nd half of the season, including a game winner against LAL.

-What is Jrue? It'd be nice to get a fourth/fifth option outta him ALA Thad's rookie year.

Overall, 45-47 wins if fully healthy.

Boston Celtics
---------------------
PG: Rajon Rondo (31), Eddie House (17)
SG: Ray Allen (34), Marquis Daniels (8) (unsigned), Tony Allen (if still on team) (6) otherwise JR Giddens
SF: Paul Pierce (34), Marquis Daniels (14) (unsigned)
PF: Kevin Garnett (31), Glen Davis (17)
C: Kendrick Perkins (24), Rasheed Wallace (24)

Minor players
PG: TBD (unsigned)
SG: J. R. Giddens
SF: Bill Walker
PF: Brian Scalabrine
C: Sheldon Williams

Question marks
1. Will the team be able to acquire Marquis Daniels via Sign & Trade (by trading Tony Allen or Brian Scalabrine, posssibly with Billy Walker, or the draft rights to Semih Erden or Lester Hudson included in the deal); or will Marquis Daniels sign a one year LLE with a 2nd year player option?
2. Who, and when, will the team add another "pure" point guard?

Predictions
If everyone stays healthy, Celtics win 18th NBA Championship. Celtics either move Tony Allen (and possibly another player) once Memphis comes to its senses and realizes that it doesn't want the remnants of Allen Iverson requiring the entire team adjust their game to him, when it is Iverson who should adjust the remnants of his game to his new team; or Celtics attempt a bigger deal using Scalabrine, Tony Allen and possibly Walker or Hudson right before the trade deadline.

Toronto Raptors:

Starter/Backup

PG: Calderon, Jarrett JacK
SG: Demar Derozan, Marco Belinelli
SF: Hedo Turkoglu, Antoine Wright
PF: Chris Bosh, Reggie Evans, Amir Johnson
C: Andrea Bargnani, Rasho Nesterovic

Minor Players:
PG: Marcus Banks
SG: Quincy Douby, Sonny Weems
SF:
PF:

C: Patrick O'Bryant

Question Marks:

With nine new players in camp and only 3 players returning from the start of last training camp, there are more question marks than certainties. Probably the biggest one will be at the SG and SF positions. Will Derozan be able to step up and produce at a reasonable rate come Oct 28? If not, is Belinelli ready to start playing productive and consistent ball?
After Hedo, Wright is the only other player capable of backing up the SF position regularly. Even at that, Wright is a better 2 than 3. Derozan could play spot minutes there depending on the match ups, but if there is a spot this team is thin at, for sure its the SF spot.

Predictions:
As unpredictable as Colangelo is, I predict he puts the trading wand away until December/January. If he does pull a trade it will most likely involve Banks and will gives us a SF that could step into the second unit. The deal maker will be the SF coming in has a worse contract than Banks.
If this team makes some descent noise this season and is challenging for 4rth seed, expect Bryan to dip deep into the pockets to try and land another piece that could keep Bosh in TO come summer time.

Phoenix Suns
---------------------
PG: Steve Nash (32), Goran Dragic (16)
SG: Jason Richardson (28), Leandro Barbosa (20)
SF: Grant Hill (30), Jared Dudley (18)
PF: Amare Stoudemire (36), Channing Frye (12)
C: Channing Frye (20), Lou Amundson (18), Robin Lopez (10)

Minor players
PG:
SG: Alando Tucker
SF: Taylor Griffin
PF: Earl Clark
C:

To be Cut/ traded: SG Sasha Pavlovic ($4.95M expiring/ $1.5M guaranteed)

Question marks

Amare: How will he rebound from season-ending eye surgery? How will he perform playing in a contract year? How will he respond o the departure of Shaq?

Front court depth: After Amare, the front court is essentially a wasteland; barren, desolate and desperately devoid of life. It remains to be seen how much the addition of Frye helps this situation but even though he is projected as a starter, many believe he doesn't provide the grit and toughness necessary to go to war alongside Stoudemire.

Dragic: Touted to be the answer to the backup point guard issues that have plagued the team for years, it remains to be seen if Dragic can provide quality minutes off the bench, but more importantly spell Steve Nash and keep his fresh for the postseason (should the suns get there this year). Goran didn't do himself any favours by failing to wow doubters during Summer League play.

Predictions

The Suns will likely rely offensively on the one-two punch of Amare and Jason Richardson, which is just about as dangerous as you will find - especially with Nash setting them up. Expect these guys to put up big/ huge numbers; at the other end though, the defense seems to be as shaky as ever, with no notable defenders to replace the Marions/ Bells/ Thomases of years gone by.

The Pavlovic card could be used as a trade chip to bolster the front court rotation but most believe the Suns will most likely buy him out themselves.

Youngsters Dragic/ Dudley/ Lopez and Clark will not only be given minutes this year to improve under Alvin Gentry, but also be relied upon to provide quality spells for the veterans - this forcefeeding of minutes may accelerate the development of the young'uns.. or it could turn out to be the wobbly leg that causes the team to collapse.

If by the Allstar break the Suns ar going nowhere, but Stat and JRich are putting up big numbers, expect a JRich trade for and expiring (if this happens, pick up Barbosa in your fantasy league ASAP..)

Barring injury though, I predict a 5-8 seeding in the Western conference this year, with a second round exit.
