What Happened to Steve Francis?

I remember when he was supposed to be the franchise, sitting there with his Rockets hat, representing Houston at the Lottery. I remember as recently as 2005 he was playing at an all-star level...and then he just dropped off.

And now he's out of the league? Was he on drugs? Was it injuries? It's mind boggling how far that guy fell off the map. He's still relatively young. He had 6 good seasons and it was down hill from there.

I don't think he ever ran a contested fast break correctly in his life. 3 on 1, 4 on 1, it was an automatic turnover with that guy.

He lost his knees, and now he's too slow to get open so he can't shoot in the NBA. He can't run and dunk like he used to, and isn't a guy who could ever manage a game.

He doesn't help a team with anything. Done.

That said, he always played hard and was fun to watch when he jumped higher than everyone else.

I know it's odd how far he fell. That being said one of the first times i saw him play I was like wow, this guy is a superstar he was a lot of fun to watch.

I saw this happen first hand as a Knicks fans. The man actually lost his dribble. Besides losing his knees, the man literally could not dribble the basketball. It was horrifying to watch

His athleticism declined rapidly. You didn't see many highlight plays from him in NY, he wasn't as quick or explosive as he used to be. And that was 3-4 years ago. I'm sure it just got worse. Steve Francis-athleticism=out of the NBA.

except for that wall has tremendous basketball instincts to go along with his athleticism.
francis only knew how to play street ball. once he was under a coach who wouldnt just let him do whatever he wanted to do on the court, he didnt know what to do.
yes, his declining athleticism led to him being quickly pushed out of the league, but his inability to play anything resembling structured basketball started his fall.

He's as dumb as a bag of rocks (although I'd still put my money on the bag in any sort of intellectual contest), and once his athleticism left him he had no brains to fall back on.
