The Reason Shaq and Amare didn't work out

There are people saying that Amare and Shaq did not play well together. First off, I think it was solely the offense that they were playing in. Shaq was already out of his comfort zone, add in another big guy taking his shots, and he might get frustrated. Also, I think the suns not being very good last year had alot to do with them not getting alon. You will always have chemistry problems when you are losing because everyone is frustrated with losing. Any tension between shaq and amare(if there is any really) would immediatly be squashed by LeBron. Amare will also realize that he could be a part of something special if he just goes in and does his job.

If cavs get amare(and he resigns) then we are looking at a dynast in cleveland for the next 5+ years.

Amare was averaging close to 30-10 the second half of the 07-08 season after Shaq was traded to the Suns so we know he can play with him...

Well they both don't know how to hedge a screen and defend a pick and roll... and this...

LeBron feeds everyone, whereas in Phoenix it was Shaq going to work down low scoring his 18ppg and feeding the perimeter (which excluded feeding Amare a bit). Just a poor system for that group of players. Whereas in Cleveland you put Amare in the Hickson role and look at all the easy baskets he will get!

The Suns didn't even have Amare the second half of last season, they had some bad coaching for the people they had, and they still had a record thats a playoff team most years.

Exactly, they finished 46-36 and a lot of it was Shaq carrying them in the absence of Amare.

True, the pick and roll was the poison for that Suns team. That is something for Cleveland to consider. If a team did take advantage of the pick and role then Cavs would have to take Amare out and put VJ in.

Maybe just don't have Shaq and Amare on the court together too much, always either have Shaq and VJ or Amare and VJ (or Powe). Shaq is only playing 20mins per game anyway.

Seeing as how D'Antoni's overall defensive philosophy in Phoenix was for the Suns to outscore their opponents, it's actually quite understandable that they both rarely hedged a screen, defended a pick and roll... or that (up there)...
