Nets owner wants Colangelo and Coach K

Post#1 » by ChampionRed » Sat Feb 13, 2010 3:01 am

Nets soon to be owner Mikhail Prokhorov is planning on recruiting Jerry Colangelo and coach K to the Nets. I personally think coach K leaving Duke is very unlikely but according to this article, Colangelo is "very much interested" in the job of General manager.

Well, it will take a lot of money to buy Colangelo out of his extended contract with the Raps.

Raptor fans can rejoice.

On Bryan's birthday, Daddy is gonna gift wrap John Wall to the Golden Child for Hedo Turkoglu :guitar:

My mistake. I've been reading too many reports where it was Bryan, and so...

Gloss-over fail.

It's okay. Next week it'll be Meryl Colangelo, Brian's crazy step-aunt.

coach K might leave. he's been off his game lately. if he doesn't have an absolutely stacked team, he can't win.

He's been at Duke for 30 years now. I don't think that's a fair comparison.

That is the point... Don't you think it's about time for him to challenge himself now and get a fresh start somewhere else and somewhere bigger than college? Since he got a taste of coaching an allstar USA team, maybe this is the right time to adjust and take on a bigger assignment before he retires. Plus, lots of coaches on the NBA is making a lot more money than him (including Lawrence Frank) when he is obviously a better mastermind.

His Bluedevils right now is not a monster like it used to, and taking a Laker job puts more pressure to him than taking a 4 win team Nets that if he helps them win at least 25 wins next season would be a success.

And considering, the Nets, by that time, will have one of the top 4 picks, a cap space possible to sign 2 FA's (which i assume he will not have a hard time recruiting), one more 1st round pick, the top 2nd round pick (which i consider a 1st rounder as well), young promising Center, a couple of talented players that can be used for a trade, a marketable player in Yi (i dont care what you guys think of him but no matter what happens, he's still a decent player, might not be the best starting PF quality but would be a big help backing up a star player... Plus, he will make the team some money), and most of all, a wealthy owner and one of the most interesting person in the world... Mikhail Prokhorov. I think he is not just gonna turn it down like that, it will interest him and he will definitely think about it.

How's 3 years/30 million dollars sound? If that doesn't get his attention, i dont know what will...

Also, not to mention, his buddy Colangelo will be his boss and sky's the limit for him because his big boss is one of the richest owner, if not, the richest... Money will be nothing.

Oh, and i almost forgot, the Nets are moving to Brooklyn... Temporarily moving to Newark... So what more can you ask for?

i doubt coach K would ever leave for the NBA.

he's the king of duke and I highly doubt he would turn down the lakers only to take the nets job a few years later

i dont think you really understand.

As a side note Carrol booked because of the controversy brewing at USC. Coach K has been with Duke for over 30 years.

I can't see coach K leaving either... He's a living legend at Duke... and probably has another 20 years he could coach there.

The NBA game is so much different. You have superstar egos to deal with.

He's probably rather make $5 million at Duke than $10 million in the NBA.
