Not that I want to give up Quickley from the Raps, but he would indeed be a good fit.

What $$$ amount would you be comfortable with Toronto bringing him back at?

Couldn't tell you. I'm too disconnected from NBA contract scale at this stage to make intelligent commentary on that.

He's a good shooter. Wasn't finishing well inside the arc for us, but he was also on an epic cold stretch with his normally-strong mid-range game in Toronto, too, so...

We'll see how it goes, I guess. He's not The Guy, but he's a nice piece and definitely the best PG we've had since Lowry, so it would be ideal for us to bring him back.

I definitely misread the OP and thought we were going with reasonable choices, haha.

Needs a great #2 IMO, and there's a few good choices here. I don't even mind trying Lauri Markannen to see how he plays out his next 5 years or so. Trae's defense is lacking, and Garland has a few up and down times in him. Still, all those choices are better than what we have now.

Of the realistic options I would love Josh Giddey.

That's my pick too. And he could be very attainable

He's not going to be the number 2 option on a great team, but he can be the PG. He's a superb passer with a very good IQ. His play has been hindered at OKC this season by the role he's been asked to play, which is 3rd playmaker behind SGA and Jalen Williams. And he's spent a lot of his court time off the ball, which has been a struggle at times, but will only help his development as a player in the future. His shooting has improved each season and he will continue to work on that and it will continue to improve

I think he'd be a great running mate on the Spurs with Wemby
Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team

In somewhat realistic terms (thinking of 2024/25 Summer)

Rob Dillingham from Kentucky
Reed Sheppard from Kentucky
Cooper Flagg from Duke
Liam McNeeley from UConn
Hugo Gonzalez from Real Madrid
Robert Covington
Cade (if he ever leaves Detroit)
Lauri
Alex Caruso

If Steph Curry and KD can team up, if KD and Booker can team up, if LeBron and AD can team up, then a lot of players can team-up with Wemby. Anything can happen in this league.

I'd love to see him next to a young Draymond Green (or even an Aaron Gordon) who can provide defense, energy, playmaking, and enforcer/bad guy vibes to draw threats away from the star. Guard/wing scorers can be found.

It's not just the scoring you're after, though; you're chasing a guy who can score effectively from the perimeter, but who is also your game manager and primary playmaker. Draymond is only useful in that role because he isn't obligated to score much and because he isn't tasked with spamming PnR sets all game long. So you still end up needing that primary on-ball engine, even if the upper bound of ability drops because of Green's utility as a passing hub on reversals and DHOs and the like.

He'd certainly pair well, though, once they found a lead guard. And that's just offensively. Obviously, on D, that'd be a horrifying pair.

I'd like to see Giannis or Zion paired with him. As a defense, you have the impossible decision of closing out on the unstoppable penetrator or trying to stop the unstoppable finisher.

Yes it would be breaking the game defensively, but also, for a brief minute we got Giannis with washed Cousins and saw him with a ball-talented guy who could pass and it was mesmerising. My regular answer for Wemby is to get him a guard who loves passing and forget about it but a dude like Giannis who is adept at hitting a guy in the dunker spot would also be fun coupled with Wemby's amazing face up potential to run high/low.

On the realistic tangent, as mentioned Giddey could be a great achievable option as a guy who will get the ball intelligently to the dude who needs the ball.

In terms of big name guys, Luka would obviously be a match made in heaven.

In terms of smaller name guys who would fit really well - OG/Lauri/KAT/Mikal Bridges

Why? I wouldn’t want him anywhere near Wemby if it were my call. KP didn’t do so well with him either

KP had ego issues.
