At what age for MJ do you think you could beat him in a 1 on 1 game? For me, I think once he reaches 55-60, I could probably have a chance against him.

Never. When MJ is 70 he's gonna be better than my ass (I'll be 50). Never, but who cares.

13-23? when a man is 30 he should be better than when he was 13 unless something went horrible wrong.

that was in response when considering aging. mj in 20 years would be about 70, meaning that 13-23 would be 33-43 to have a chance

Your doing it wrong. I didn't mention anything about you aging in this thread. It's about your current form. How are you going to judge how good you will be in 15 years when so much can change?

LOL, I could have beat MJ back in his Wizard days, no doubt.

Do you guys really think you'd have to wait till he was in his 70's to beat him?

This reminds me of that episode of Pros vs Joes where the young NFl stars beat the older NBA stars in basketball. Hakeem looked like an old man and he's still in his 40's.

NFL stars are first class athletes, and many of them grow up playing both basketball and football, so I don't see why them beating older NBA players means anything.

And if you could beat MJ in his Wizards days, I highly doubt you'd be posting on an internet basketball forum.

Unless you were joking, in which case I apologize.

LMAO, MJ was putting up remarkable numbers before his injury, 26/6/5, that's better than Kobe now, and MJ was 38-39!

I missed my chance at the pros due to injury(I know, me and a thousand others). But if we're talking a 1 on 1 situation with a 40 year old MJ, then yes, I could have beat him. I'm pretty sure a lot of people could beat him in that scenario. He was slow as hell by that point, and in 1 on 1 games, speed kills.

mj at 60 in a small gym against players not at nba or div 1 level, would almost look like he was in his prime in the nba. (in terms of domination)

hell still be 6'6, with huge mitts, probably still stronger, better in the post and a better shooter even at 70

MJ averaged 20/6/4 and 1.5spg at 40, and was still averaging 37mpg. You really think you could handle him when the guy was still playing at an NBA All-Star level? Come on man. John Wall, the best of his draft class wouldn't even beat a 40 year old Jordan.

It's not like the guy was stuck in cement at the age of 40, he was just not as fast as he was at the age of 30. But he was still dropping 20+ ppg at the NBA level at the time, so his speed was good enough. And even if you were faster than him, there's the very simple tactic of stepping back, and giving a somewhat open jumper to the opponent, so that they can't drive past you. He's 6'6", so even him stepping back, I'm pretty sure he could contest the shot pretty well. I'm sorry, it's just hard for me to believe that you would beat 40-year old MJ, still an NBA-calibre player, in a game of 1-on-1. The guy knew all the tricks (how to get you in the air, how to create space, etc.), was a master at posting up, and had an almost automatic fadeaway.

Well, for clarification. I'm 6'4, was built like DWade, and my playing style was similiar to Penny Hardaway. With all due respect to MJ, I was faster than him at that point, I was 2 inches shorter, but just as stong. And frankly, MJ's handles had really gotten sloppy by his Wiz days and I don't think he could protect the ball well enough with his slower reflexes. 8-)

And NO, MJ at 60 would get schooled by anyone with decent game. Do people understand how much the body slows as they age?

We're talking a 1 on 1 game, not a NBA season. I'm not saying that I had MJ's all-around skill level, just that I could beat him in a game of 1 on 1 at that point.

He did score 20 PPG, BUT it was on 49.1% TS. His range was pretty weak at the point because of the lack of lift he had on his threes.

And John Wall would destroy a 40 year old MJ 1 on 1. Dear God.
