good explanation guys. I'm not a fan of small ball in general so I gotta agree with you. Adelman lost that game apparently.

I got the same reaction when I made a similar post on the Knicks board. I am the one that is being ridiculous for suggesting that Jeremy Lin might ONLY put up Chauncey Billups like numbers.

This is how new religions start.

Please indulge us all for a second and show us some tangible evidence that Knick fans think Lin will maintain his averages and percentages. You just continue to fail to realize WHY Knick fans are excited about Lin, and it hardly has to do with the numbers he was putting up. Case in point, before his outburst Vs NJ, D'Antoi inserted Lin vs Boston...when he was in the game, the ball movement was great, Amare was catching the ball in stride and the Knicks had the Celtics on their heels. His numbers were quite underwhelming, but his impact wasn't. Douglas wound up returning and well, NY looked like a lost team again.

In all honesty, you seem to be the one completely focused on his statistical production, rather his effect on the Knick's team.

What I do not understand is people who are blasting others for using Lin's stats as supporting evidence for his abilities. Please specify what can be used in substitution for Lin's actual production.

Bucks fan here, but watching the game, I kept wondering if Pekovic was injured or something. If not injured, Adelman lost that game. The T-Wolves have some good 3-point shooters, but they were clanking the ball. Pekovic looked unstoppable, so...HIS COACH SITS HIM OUT MOST OF THE FOURTH QUARTER!!! If I was D'Antoni, I'd have sent Adelman flowers after the game. Getting back to the Rubio-Lin comparison, Lin is more athletic and appears to shoot the ball better from the outside. Despite his two goofs at the end of the game. Rubio has played very well in tight situations up til then. He still has better court awareness than Lin, and is a better passer. Lin gets to the basket better and finishes better than Rubio. But Rubio can get to the basket, and his shot will improve. He's looked good shooting at times, but he'll have to spend time grooving it. He will have some thirty point games in his future, but that is not the kind of player he is. Lin made a lot of bad decisions in the second half against the Wolves, but he was playing very smart up til then. He's got to learn not to try to do too much. Let's just say, I wish the Bucks had either one. You can have Jennings. I'll take a true point guard

I don't think it's really the time. Lin is working on his 7th game with significant minutes, the 6th start of his career. As exciting as it is to talk about what he's doing, it's hard to even compare him to a rookie like Rubio, who already has around 5x as many NBA starts under his belt. We need to wait and see what happens when Lin's jumper normalizes and if, as tonight's game might indicate, he'll learn to get those turnovers under control, what his defense will be like over time and so forth.

Too many unknowns for any meaningful discussion to come from this question yet.

are there, though? 7 game win streaks don't just happen out of sheer statistical aberration. jeremy lin is a big part of the knicks success. i don't see a problem with giving the man his due.

This.

Lin has about as many starts as what Rubio had when he was shooting over 50% from the field and 40% from three. If we crowned him the next Steve Nash then we'd look pretty silly since both of those numbers have dipped below 40%. Let's what to see what Lin does when teams get a good chunk of film on him. He hasn't definitely cooled off the last 2-3 games.
