Interesting to wonder whether these sort of discussions would have coalesced on the net (had it existed) in the early 90s as MJ began winning and consolidating his status as a genuine GOAT candidate with people rubbishing league expansion, the existence of a 3-point line and sissified officiating where players driving to the basket couldn't have their legs cut from under them.

also, can someone look into this: how many players in nba history have lead their team in scoring, rebounding and assists all in the same season? as far as I know larry bird in 1986 was the only other player to do it, and LeBron has done it multiple times.

In total I saw a stat where he was only behind wilt or someone? Magic I think.

It was obvious Wade was killing their spacing during the playoff run, but I didn't realize it was that bad.

Dude was just not comfortable with his shot at all. Indy, Chicago and spurs forced the ball to move to him and he wasnt able to do anything with it except a few games here and there. Good thing is these games came when it mattered the most

I swear its all the same poster just with different accounts considering they all talk about the same stuff. It's like there is a hat with cue cards of info they can use against Lebron. They pull it out one at a time. You all know who m talking about

Focused on the topic, not the posters, guys. If you're concerned, PM a mod.

Net existed in early 90s and even in 80s. You could look at Google groups archive - there's a lot of discussions and most of them pretty much in the same tone as today: older (KAJ, Bird, Magic) stars were better, new generation sucks (Joirdan, Barkley, Ewing), league as a whole is worse and worse...

True, but it was nowhere near the mass-market tool it is now. This was also prior to the information revolution in terms of gametape as well as the explosion in analytics.

You're dead right, though. The names change but the arguments remain the same.

If this thread is still alive, anyone curious to drop in their thoughts on Lebron's rebounding ability and how he boxes out? I got into a slight disagreement with someone on the GB about it. I said that Lebron always boxes out the bigs he guards like the PFs/Cs but sometimes he misses out on 3 point shooters and perimeter players but that's because generally you don't have to box them out.

That sounds accurate to me, I've noticed that as well. I think when LeBron gets to guard a non-threat on offense, it does negatively impact his rebounding because he spends more time worried about help D than getting the board. Kawhi abused him in the Finals precisely because of this.

Kawhi averaged 11.1 rebounds in the Finals and Lebron averaged 10.9. How is that abused? Both rebounded really well...

Form looks slightly tweaked. I've seen a number of videos of him practicing the outside shot, looks like he wanted to put further work into the 3s.
But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

Looks like he's bringing the ball up differently on his jumper, though it's hard to tell from that angle. Usually he holds it on the left side of his body before bringing it up like he does here:

It's nice to see him focus on shooting which is definitely what he needs to work on more than anything else. Sure, post moves are nice, but Lebron having a deadly jumper would make him complete.

A bold statement, sir :)

Idk if he'll be as efficient as this past season though.

This one is from 2004..notice all of the extended floater/push shots he was doing. His game was totally differnet back then lol

also from 2004..his shooting form was very different back then

Yeah, he looks thinner than he has since at least the '08 season to me.

so... LeBron has increased his fg% every year in the league except for one (when he shot .002 less)... my question to you guys is where do you see his fg% going? it seems really hard to improve on .565 especially with the amount of shots he takes and the pressure he gets.

whatever it is, I don't see it dipping below 55%
